You are not doing anything wrong. The same thing happened to me this morning and after restarting the computer with everything plugged in it let me turn on the inputs/outputs.

I'm using a Mac 2GHz Intel Core Duo running OS X 10.5.4

Right after installing the newest beta I opened the Preference window and my audio output device was set to my monitors and the buffer size was 512, but when I changed my output to built in the buffer size changed to 256.

It's not a big problem, I'm not sure if it's supposed to do that or not.

Stylus RMX crashes every time I try to load a sound but Atmosphere loads & plays fine.

I work at GC in NYC and I must when I saw Dascratch come in I lost my mind. So I made a few calls to my reps at Stanton about using it with Live and it seems like it will do everything you want it to do except scratch & scrub. This isn't to hard. If you need to record NOW, buy Live 6. If you don't need it till Novermber hold on a wait for Live 7 or the next best copy cat thing. Namm is coming up, but most products still take 3 to 8 months to hit stores, and the Ableton/Cycling project will take longer. What are your needs...

I warpped a Muddy Waters track with a tempo that was drunk on moonshine. You should be able to warp just about anything. Make sure you're in 4/4 or whatever the timing of the song is.
