Did you try temporarily moving your VSTs folder away and then start Live to see if it isn't plugin related?
Btw, is this on mac or pc?

Normally Id agree except this is literally every single session ones from 2017 and ones from last week. everything worked perfectly fine right before the update.

It is most likely not related to the update, for some reason your files became corrupt...

Nope that doesn't appear to work . No matter what format I save it in, then change the ext to .als. When I load the set in Ableton I get "file is corrupt." "unknown compound stream type" .
