lemme know if you get it cleared up
This is my problem right there.
I set up monomulator "midi from" and "midi to" to USB Audio Device which is my APC 40.
Now in Live's pref's, the USB Audio Device input and output are highlighted red, meaning they can't be used.
So i turn it off.
BUT, this way, i can not get the normal APC square and functionality in Live. :?:

Can anyone that got this to work on XP shed some light please?

DJ Groovy:
I'm on XP, and have this working as follows:

Download latest version of Monomulator (fixes slider rows THANKS MIKE !!!!!)

In Monomulator:
Use APC40 USB ports for MIDI from & to APC40
Use midiyoke channel 1 for APC automap to & channel 2 for APC automap from Live
Use midiyoke channel 3 for notes MIDI port & 4 for slider MIDI port

Also look at your midi preferences in Monomulator/MAX msp: appropriate i/o midichannels
should be checked!

In Live / control surfaces:
Apc 40 midiyoke 1 as input, 2 as output

midiports, only switch on:
input APC40 from midiyoke 1 - remote: on
input midiyoke 3 - track: on
input midiyoke 4 - remote: on

Do not switch on APC40 in- or output USB ports here, or any MIDI output ports for that matter.

Let me know if this fixes it for you.
Best

YEAH It's finally working

I was so tired after my electronic evening lessons[every evening after a fulfilled dayjob] that I completly missed the point

I was taking midiYoke 1 for both in and out for the apc :? Dumbass me!
Now I pick 1 and 2. it's good

I've seen though a lil problem, well not a problem in fact.
I did always launch momonulator after LIVE

Now I GOT TO [power up the apc40] launch monomulator THEN only ableton Live.

If I launch Live first it so much "hungry" with the apc 40 that the max app has no room anymore to recognize usb port right>>it gives me mme/midi bug.

I'm composing a fresh piece made with molar and I'm so enjoying it.

Thanks a billion times Mike, for every marvelous piece of tricky appies for live, for your presence here and your accessibility.

Monome @ home thanks to you.

Ho and for conclusion, I'm so impressed that when I'm in the monome function, it remains some faders, knobs and even a few buttons free with apc function, without the need to press Pan [well it obviously depends on what you wanna do :D ]

It simply and efficiently Rocks

TT audio Rulez!
cheers

moodles wrote:So I'm trying to get 7up working on APC40. Here are the steps I've followed so far (running on Windows Vista):

Run MAX Runtime
In MAX Runtime open monomulator maxpat file
Run 7up
Go to monomulator screen enter box prefix, hit return in port boxes - MAX runtime shows binding to Port 8080
Run 7up JAR file.
Set all Input and Output devices to APC40 (not sure if this is the right thing to do!) and Initialize
Run Ableton Live and open the 7up Live Set
At this point, I would imagine that I need to set the Ableton MIDI To and From devices to APC40, but I don't see that as an option. I'm not sure if this is even what I should be doing.

Basically, I don't think I have my MIDI preferences set up correctly, but I'm not sure how to do this. Any suggestions?

and be sure to check this>> http://www.makingthenoise.com/sevenup/

Hope you gonna find a way to make it work.
Follow the screenshot for midi and you should be good to go as I did

@ chat_fou:

i think your config is correctly (same settings than in the toutorial video). what i figured out: try to click the "mode-select-button" twice (shift+pan+pan, or shift+send a+send a, etc.).
this will refresh the area of the 8x5 buttons and the "arm-track" row correctly.

BUT: the button rows of the old "stop-clip", "select-track", "mute-track", "solo-track" buttons behave still buggy (on my system: mac osx 10.5.8, ableton 7.0.16)
the problem is only on this rows ("stop-clip", "select-track", "mute-track", "solo-track") when I switch back to apc mode, this rows dont refresh
It is a major issue for me :(
I'm using Live 8.0.5 on mac osx 10.5.8
maybe it is ok only for windows xp users?

- the apc is crashing down very often (the red square disappears and the standard apc functions (faders, encoders, etc.) will have no control anymore). in my case when i'm activating the blue midi-mapping, then deactivate the midi-mapping - the red square (and the controls) disappears and i have to restart everything.
- the refreshing button light thing (see above)
I have these 2 issues too

I'm sure that the monomulator is going to be perfect when these issues will be fixed
thanks a lot for your work mike!

Only saw this now! HUGE thank you man, it worked straight away.
My problem was that i didn't have the apropriate midi channels checked in MAX.

Ooooh, lots of experimentation this week, eheh.
And thanks again to Mike for making this great app!

for mac users of monomulator :
do I have to change the input/output midi values on the IAC ports ?
the interface doesn't allow me to change these values...

So the Monomulator is just an OSC conversion program ?

Anyone got any favorite Monome Apps ?

7UP ?
soundcloud Live 9 & Push / Reaper / Octatrack / Rytm / MicroBrute / Nord Modular G1 & G2 / Waldorf Rack Attack / Juno 60 / Monotron & Duo / SeratoDJ / Komplete 9 / OhmForce

Got the monomulator working with very few problems, however, I am confused as to how I make monome apps work.

Is there any tutorials or anyone willing to explain please?

Many thanks.

If you have monomulator working ok, it's just a case of pressing shift+send a on the apc to enter monome mode.
Then set the right prefix on monomulator for the app you're gonna use, then open that app, and follow it's instructions.

So far i got mlrv and 7up working, they're both great. Gonna check some more apps when i have time.

hey mike, thanx for your reply!

now i found the time (and dare to) install the ableton 8.05 demo. ok, when i switch between "pan" & "send a" (normal mode & monome mode)
the lights of the 8x5 button field are refreshing exactly (without a double clic!).

but the rows of: "stop clips", "select track" an "mute track" still behave "buggy". the lights don't refresh. i also activated live osc
(don't be sure if this could help) but it doesn't change anything.

one thing more: if i want to enable/disable one of the arm-track buttons in track 6, 7, or 8 the connection between the "monome application" and your monomulator
breaks down. sometimes it helps (the connection comes again) if i'm going to the monomulator and re-enter the osc prefix. does someone of you have same problems??

for mac users of monomulator :
do I have to change the input/output midi values on the IAC ports ?
the interface doesn't allow me to change these values...
i don't think that this is necessary. i kept the standart settings (when creating the iac ports)

but anyway: its soooo much fun with this amazing emulator!!

Did molar work straight out for you?
It doesn't work here. I mean, it does work, it lights up a bunch of lights when i press play in Live, the position scroller moves, and it even works as intended with my midi keyboard, wich turns on the lights on the apc. But pressing on the apc buttons does absolutely nothing. I've got the right prefix, 40h.
Dunno...
