Very bad mood prevented!

Post by re.mark » Sat May 09, 2009 3:59 pm

Thank god for the clever bees at Ableton HQ implementing 'Restore from undo history'.
:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
I just had a mamother crash after 4 1/2 hours work - without saving any of it (I will learn my lesson from now on, I promise!!) But the restore option when I re-opened Live prevented a very bad mood for the rest of the day, and now I shall celebrate with a bottle of wine!
Huzzah!

It obviously didn't change any of your device parameters like it did mine a couple of months ago, had to go through and reprogram Operator and my FX plugs. :(

That exact thing is what made me purchase Live and become a loyal user 6 years ago.

I had to change like 3 routings and that was it, I do all my synth work in Massive atm, (as i am yet to purchase suite) but thankfully had saved all the patches in there. Ouch for you though :(
Think I'll save from 30mins into a project and then keep saving religiously from then on it. Come to think of it though an AutoSave function would be nice....... *jumps to feature request thread*

I'm baffled why other software companies don't add this function to their softs. Basically all softs should implement this, including visual apps like the Adobe Suite.

yes its very good as with autosave used in most apps you can loose the last 5-10 min of work so i always loved the restore to backup system although sometimes with things like reaktor you will loose presets so maybe to have autosave as well would be good.
