uh-oh. Just felt the urge to tell you guys that the midi-assigning of device-title-bars is very joyful.

jumping from device to device and controlling it's macros is sooo easy and mouseless now.

ok, I have the nanokontrol and set it up in a way that I can control macros with it's encoders.

In Live8 I can midi-assign the buttons of the nanokontrol to device title bars. Pressing a button now makes the device go into focus, the blue hand appears on it and I can control its 8 macros with the encoders of the nanokontrol.

So with the 18 buttons on the nanokontrol I can assign 18 devices and control its macros instantly, without looking at the screen. And now multiply that by 4, because the nanokontrol has 4 "scenes" ....

Oh, WIN! Nice one, dude. In theory, you could set up 64 devices like that with an MPD24... Hahaha. Eeeexcellent. I can feel some gear-selling coming on to get me an upgrade to L8...

This is a fantastic feature!

I have been holding off upgrading due to cash problems, but I can't resist much longer...

18 buttons?
My nanokontrol has got 8 buttons for parameters and 8 buttons for controlling the nanokontrol itself (learn, view etc.).

it's from way before L8 you know... 6...or 5.....but yeah it rules.
I have a problem where my 'lock' button in my setup stopped working since L8... can't figure out why.

What? That doesn't sound like a nanoKontrol to me.

I think L8 is the first version that the device title bars themselves are midi-mappable, no? It's a lovely feature... very handy...

Hey pepezabala,

can you please explain point by point ho you edited the userconfig to do that?
Or, if u don´t use the userconfig, how do you do that anyways?
Please, give a step by step explanation, i´m sure i´m not the only one interested
in that!

cheers and thanks

Daniel

This is done simply by entering midi map mode, clicking the device title bar and pushing the
button you want to map to that particular device. You can assign computer keyboard keys as well,
of course.

Both midi map and key map mode are entered in the upper right corner of the Live interface.

And yes, it's a fantastic feature which has moved us further in the direction of mouseless
navigation (Live 8 only, though).
