Documentation of midi remote scripts?
I have been testing the midi remote scripts for my microKONTROL now, it works, but not as good as lc xmu which displays correct names for everything. I was planning to test my padKONTROL as well but live cannot dump the settings, is there any documentation of these scripts and which mappings that should be loaded on the controller in order to make it work? Would be sufficient with a text file or something just to describe the mappings and how to use modifier/bank keys if there is any.
Re: Documentation of midi remote scripts?
You mean the instant mapping scripts? Only real documentation is the "InstantMappings-HowTo.txt" text file User Remote Scripts folder.
Edit: see also here - http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=84590 - for what the bank switching does.

Re: Documentation of midi remote scripts?
I don't have a User Remote Scripts folder, you mean in Live.app/Contents/App-Resources/'MIDI Remote Scripts' (on mac)?
It's a real pity that the documentation and the implementation and documentation is that bad, as people invest a lot of money in controllers. I mean the hardware is often quite good, but the implementation lacks functionality, except for the microKONTROL when used in native mode in Reason. But, I dont think it's fair to blame Ableton either, because Korg have not updated their drivers for some years now, I have to run the editor in rosetta to make it work... However I think they have understood now that it's quite a good sell-point to implement support for controllers so that they actually can be used with the software, now after the apc40 success.

Path for file on Mac is: <user>/Library/Preferences/Ableton/Live 8.0.5/User Remote Scripts
That gets you instructions how to make custom instant mappings, but functionality is limited to what's detailed in the text file. Anything further and you have to start looking at Mackie Emulation or some bomes-type conversion. Probably.

Re: Documentation of midi remote scripts?
Thanks, will have a look. I've been using mackie emulation for several years now but I just wanted to check the status on the live scripts. It's not easy peasy to get led feedback from mackie emulation either, lc xmu is really good on that for those who have supported controllers.
Re: Documentation of midi remote scripts?
You're not going to get any feedback info from the instant mapping script there. For that, Live API is the one true way... there's a couple of threads on here for that.

Re: Documentation of midi remote scripts?
Actually the remote script for the microKONTROL provide som info on the leds, and that's because it dumps sysex of course. On my monome I use liveosc which works really nice, with realtime feedback of parameters.
Re: Documentation of midi remote scripts?
Interesting, as the instant mapping parameters in the text file are all one way from controller to Live, no feedback info. So, I guess you'd still need to emulate some other controller to get sysex back anyway...

Re: Documentation of midi remote scripts?
there is only a single mapping for each control, but Live does send feedback on the same CC/channel...
