putting some serious energy into pushing the quality of the plugs into a super high level? and creating a few more, like one compressor that is a brutal squasher a la dbx 160 and one which is clean and transparent like a crane song
and / or a linearphase EQ and a reverb that actually creates a room not a box or shaking industry hall, etc. (talking to the abes)
not talking about the weirdo sound screw plugs, talking about classic mix tools, EQ, Compressor, Reverb, etc.
those are actually way more important 'items' that can help to 'shape' a good mix.

Yup.... Sign me up!!!
I'd love a reverb that doesn't sound so fake and metallic spacey.
Better Compressors can't hurt...
I'll leave EQ alone for now... lets get on that reverb thing right away though.

I would love more and better effects plug ins. With Sonar you get a ton of great included plug ins, so much so that I was considering do all of my mixes in Sonar again. I just hate to use more than one program if there is no need for it.

nice thread!!
people should pick on Live's plug ins, they could use improvement, but how? I know the reverb is weak, don't know how I'd describe it.

EQ8 is pretty good, just the lo and hi cut filters could use a little work and some steeper slopes.

YES.
I use mainly Live instruments (+ Absynth and Sylenth1), but most of my plugins are expensive EQs, compressors, filters and reverbs which I always choose over the native Live stuff. Most Live effects are fine, but I think there is generally some room for improvement.

and an additional linear-phase EQ

+1 to linear phase EQ and upgraded reverb (maybe a convolution option?)
How about a single delay plugin that includes granular effects, filters, ping-pong, groove (if that's possible), and maybe an effects loop?

yes they are 'fine' but i think they could move up to being the best in a DAW bundle...necho wrote:YES.

Beat Repeat - does anyone else think it's played out?
Mongo want ask about Live's compressor, people like? Mongo not use much compression. maybe if Mongo had good compressor Mongo learn use and make happy. Mongo tired.
