3-band EQ question

Post by eriegz » Fri Jan 08, 2010 4:59 pm

Actually, maybe the general forum is a better place for this question:

Why does adding a 3-band eq to a track raise its volume, even if each band's gain is set at zero? (screenshots below)

This is covered in the manual.
EQ3 has an individual way of 'coloring' the sound. Its not 100% clear*. Try using the 24db slope or EQ8.

*I mean the sound is not 100% clear compared to the inputed sound, not the explaination the manual gives.

because it's made like this, and documented like this, and explained in detail in the manual.

i know it's hard, but the manual is a great read.

stick around this forum and you'll learn to loathe humans.

EQ3 is imperfect, or maybe you can twist that into saying EQ3 has its own sound. Ableton has acknowledged this and they've pointed people to use EQ8 instead.

Or further work it to your advantage to create your own sound :)
