Alphatrack + Launchpad = Real Step Sequencer
Here is youtube address: http://www.youtube.com/HolographX
Analog Style Step Sequencer
Buttons light up to indicate active step
Note change via rotary encoder
More details forthcoming
Thanks for looking
I post this because I want to work with frontier design or novation or ableton or any company interested in developing my ideas further

Re: Alphatrack + Launchpad = Real Step Sequencer
i don't have max for live
it's just a lot of math and some clever routing

i would imagine a bcr2000 to be highly suitable for this as well

Re: Alphatrack + Launchpad = Real Step Sequencer
That's great.
But I do have to say I use Maschine (which I got used in like new condition for $250) and a Launchpad, and as far as hardware step sequencer that integrates with Live, Maschine is far more flexible. With Maschine, you can change the resolution of the steps at will and the 4x4 pad leds will adapt and you can move back and forth with just the hardware controller.
I'm interested to see if there's a step sequencer for Launchpad that can do various step resolution (like working with 8 or 16 steps and switch to 32 or 64 steps) and switch back and forth within the same pattern.

@delicioso
maschine has some serious step sequencer functions no doubt.
i am a d.i.y. type so i"m finding the combination of alphatrack and launchpad
creates a uniquely expansive source of options for customizing controls.
i will be posting some more youtube video where i will demonstrate some of the ways
these two devices complement one another.

Re: Alphatrack + Launchpad = Real Step Sequencer
The one big revelation here is the fact that this is actually possible using only live.
The alphatrack and launchpad together are the medium for which to create a "hands on" interface.
I know there are step sequencer vst's and such but i'm kind of old school and just prefer to have buttons and knobs.
I have an hp touchsmart and even though it is great it is not an adequate substitute for real controls when working with software.
This is just one iteration of my work.
I've devised numerous types of step sequencers.
