aurex FREE step sequencers for LP without M4L/Bome ! + vids

Post by Sarrova-Q » Fri Jul 09, 2010 12:58 pm

Hi all !

I decided to make an 8 step sequencer for the Novation Launchpad with Ableton Live that works without M4L / Bome / ...

This sequencer is a melodic sequencer, but a drum sequencer and FX sequencer are on the To-Do list.
You can sequence every synth with it, also hardware synths.

My goal was to keep things simple and very user-friendly, but still have a lot of possibilities to make complex sounding sequences.
Also, I didn't want to loose the "native" Ableton functions, such as session view, mixer, sends, ... so the 8-Step is placed in the USER2 mode.

The following video gives you a good overview of what it can do and explains all the functions:

You can find a download link in the "more info" section on youtube.
Please let me know how it works for you. Thx.

Cheers

This thing looks great! I've been looking for something like this that wasn't tied to bomes or M4L.
I'll give this a shot tomorrow and report back. Looking forward to your other launchpad stuff. I appreciate your work - looks like it took quite some time!
cheers,

I wonder how hard it would be to retrofit this for the APC40. I'll start working on this right away.

Wow. It looks great in the video, and without bomes or M4L. Thanks very much for your work, I'll give it a try as soon as possible. Can't wait for that drum sequencer and fx sequencer :D
Thanks again, Sarrova-Q

I'd love to try this... somehow filedropper doesn't send the file after I enter the digits and characters?!
Anyone else had more luck with this?

Took it for a spin!
It ran flawlessly and was good fun :)
My only issue was not having the 4 buttons next to the on/off buttons (button columns 2-5) light up.. sometimes I forgot what pitch a certain note was on. It was still good fun! Thanks for sharing and I really look forward to seeing what you do next.
cheers!

Yeah, I know. Unfortunately that was not possible because the pitches are mapped to a macro controller. I tried pitches just with the midi pitch device first (and with device on/off) but it wasn't handy and I also couldn't make them light up and remember the state after switching to session.

This is fun, thank you!
Would it be difficult to do an aurex16 with 2 Launchpads?
The routing might be a bit tricky, I guess?

Hey I guess that would be possible and I would like to make it, but I don't have a second LP to try it out.
