Any updates on official Snow Leopard support?
Any updates on official Snow Leopard support?
Has anyone heard anything new on the official Ableton support for Snow Leopard?
On that note, for those who have Snow Leopard installed and run Live 8.x.x, would you so go for it or hold off?
Thanks!

Snow Leopard (i.e. Mac OS 10.6.x) is officially supported for Live 8.oddeo wrote:Has anyone heard anything new on the official Ableton support for Snow Leopard?

it's taking you people too long (a year) to 'internally test' Live7 on 10.6rin wrote:Snow Leopard (i.e. Mac OS 10.6.x) is officially supported for Live 8.oddeo wrote:Has anyone heard anything new on the official Ableton support for Snow Leopard?

Basically you're not doing any internal tests, you're not going to officially support Live7 on OSX 10.6... and of course you're not going to say that plainly.
Fingers crossed we all upgrade, right ?

Thanks Rich. I am not sure how I missed that.

OK, I'll admit that the information on that page needs an update.dum wrote:it's taking you people too long (a year) to 'internally test' Live7 on 10.6rin wrote:Snow Leopard (i.e. Mac OS 10.6.x) is officially supported for Live 8.oddeo wrote:Has anyone heard anything new on the official Ableton support for Snow Leopard?

For the most part Live 7.0.18 will work as well on Mac OS X 10.6.x as on 10.5.x.
Apple's efforts on Snow Leopard was mostly to go fully 64-bit, discontinue PPC, introduce OpenCL/Grand Central Dispatch (which has no relevance for Live) and to achieve a smaller memory and filesystem footprint.
That doesn't mean that there are no issues. This is especially also relevant for 3rd-party plug-ins.
On our side we have been working very hard on resolving issues in Live 8. We have to prioritize and we are, after all, a relatively small shop.
As an example, with Logic 9, even a bigger company like Apple hasn't updated Logic 8 since 2008.

Re: Any updates on official Snow Leopard support?
3rd party plugins working on osx 10.6 applies to live7 as much as live8. that's a red herring.rin wrote: OK, I'll admit that the information on that page needs an update.

referring to logic... another red herring. If you use Apple as a yard-stick, we're in trouble. BESIDES... apple develop logic AND the operating system it runs on. It's possible logic8 becomes more compatible/less problematic on osx 10.6 with updates to the OS.
Also...is logic 9 a clusterfuck ? I mean, forcing people to upgrade is one thing. Forcing them to upgrade to a clusterfuck is another.
re: prioritizing live8 and acknowledging the Live7/osx10.6 issue needs updating = stating the obvious.

time will tell.

Re: Any updates on official Snow Leopard support?
dum, Live 7 is not officially supported, but Live 7.0.18 works fine on Snow Leopard. There are currently no incompatibility issues that we are aware of and if your plugins are fully compatible with Snow Leopard, then they should work fine in Live 7.0.18, too. Go for it, if Snow Leopard is the OS of your dreams, but be aware that it's rather unlikely that we will ever release another update for Live 7. Any older Live versions than 7.0.18 are NOT compatible with Snow Leopard.
Hope that was plainly enough.

Nico

Confirmation received - Loud & Clear.
shall I proceed to wiping my ass with live 7.0.18 bug reports ?

Feel free, but please print them on recycling paper. It's a bit more grainy, but better for the environment. Apple would appreciate this, too. http://www.apple.com/environment/dum wrote:

Re: Any updates on official Snow Leopard support?
nico ftw. no issues here on 10.6 with 7.0.18.
Re: Any updates on official Snow Leopard support?
^I wouldn't say Nico FTW to be honest.
Only bumping this thread as I found it after searching for advice about going to SL from L.

Seems that 7 isn't even supported.
Bollocks.
Are any other people getting on OK with 7 and SL?
