Current Beta Version: 8.1.6b5 (updated September 3, 2010)

Post by Amaury » Fri Sep 03, 2010 7:35 am

The current beta version of Live is 8.1.6b5

OS X: http://downloads.ableton.com/software/8 ... _816b5.dmg
Windows: http://downloads.ableton.com/software/8 ... _816b5.zip

Kind regards,
Amaury

---------------------

Improvements

- Some changes were made to the Help Pages regarding how to report a
crash and how to contact support. When restarting Live after a crash,
Live produces a file named "Ableton Crash Report... .alp", whereas
choosing "Get Support.." in Live's Help menu produces a file named
"Ableton Status Report... .alp".

Bug fixes

- Fixed the display of looped MIDI clips in the Arrangement, which was a
regression due to a fix that made MIDI notes draw correctly while
recording (http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=149012)

- Fixed a crash that could occur when uninstalling a Live Pack and
making the Library unavailable, by unplugging the external drive it is
on, for example.

- Fixed crashes that could occur when using sample files that have a
sample rate greater than 192KHz and set to Complex or Complex Pro.

- Fixed a crash that happened when using "dead keys" in message boxes,
like pressing "z" when the "Do you want to save this Live set" dialog
box was displayed.

- Fixed a crash which was triggered by moving a fader or knob on a MIDI
controller while in MIDI learn mode, and quitting Live at the same time.

- Fixed a crash happening when having an incoming MIDI mapped message
that would reach Live while loading a document. This had to do with the
Undo history not yet being created, while the incoming message needed to
access it.

- Fixed Japanese text input. It was not possible to rename tracks with
Japanese characters, for example.

Serato-related fixes

- Now, a track that contains no device correctly shows "No Device"
instead of displaying the last visible device in the Ableton Device
Control view in Serato Scratch Live.

- Fixed a crash related to transport control when Ableton Live transport
was slaved to Serato Scratch Live.

I had one huge crash with b5

I couldn't even report a bug AND no pack created.
No report a bug Feature in the help menu.
I'm over disappointed with b5

I also encounter an annoying thing which kills the composing flow.
Many audio clips made with beat+transients and sample offset envelope unlinked, no problem so far...

Then I hit global record.

What a sad thing to hear those clips badly rendered. it miss something.
The only way is to render to another audio track [if I want to keep the fx's on the concerned track]
New feature is great, too bad those ones [like beat mode and transients] are not behaving well.

I'm happy with live but this beta sounds like a stupid joke;
come on no report bug feature and no created report when a crash occurs...not serious!

Hi,

There should definitely be a "report a crash" help view page after restarting Live after a crash. It may be that in some case, it's technically a "hang" and not a crash, or something like that.

Then, the "Report a bug" was merged with the "Get Support.." lesson. When calling that lesson, a Live pack is created, that you can send to support.

But I'd like to understand your global record problem better. Would it be possible for you to send a set, with maybe only one clip if it's enough to demonstrate, directly to me? If it is only one clip, you could include the sample.

Kind regards,

thanks amaury for the reply.

and sorry for late answer.
Good news is that I could reproduce the hang while recording in live 8.1.3.

A crash report has been created, I'll send it this evening.
weird thing was the progam get frozen but no crash.
If I want to close the program it asks if I want to save.
When I clic YES it says I cant quit live during recording

I can send you the live set as well.
I will edit it to get one audio clip, you can move it to other track to try if necesary.

Thanks
