I just downloaded and installed Live 8 2.2.2 and suddenly most of the samples in my songs are offline.
Since I asked before, http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=147176, http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=126683, I follow the advice I got.
Still the files are gone missing! It both makes me *very* worried and mad at the same time - is a lot of my work gone?!?
I try to manually replace the samples, but when I drag the files, they won´t drop where they are supposed to, nothing happens. Very annoying!
I don´t f*cking get it why this happens over and over. Please help!
Samples offline - please help
Re: Samples offline - please help
Are you using mostly stuff from the Library, or your own sounds? Check the preferences to make sure you don't have two Libraries by accident.

Re: Samples offline - please help
Hope I am not to late to get in on this. I am having the same problem, more or less. I have backed up a buch of projects on an external drive, one of those little stick things, and am trying to use them on a new computer which I am trying to get live 8 working on as my old computer is on it's way out. from there the problem is just as described above.
My answer to the followup question is that they are all my own sounds from instruments played trhough a fast track, and with many live 8.2.8 audio effects. The program says it doesn't find any of the missing files, and when I get a list of those fiels to manually drag over to the corrosponding track it doesn't do anything.
When I go to my external drive I find files there but they aren't live files, they are "empty" unless I look for "all files". When I open them live says they are corrupted compound files (or someting like that, I dont have the usb ports to type, mouse, be online, and get into my external drive via live at the same time) and once I tried saving the project in my documents to open from there just to see and it caused live to crash.
Not sure what the deal is or if there is anything I can do about it but there sure is a lot on there that I would like verry much to retrieve.

when you get the orange status bar at the bottom, it should open the file manager browser to the right (if not, double click the orange) - then near the top you should have a "search folder" option. Make sure this is the only one enabled, then you can drag the folder you know the samples are in to this spot from finder/explorer and press search and it should find them all pretty quickly.
Assuming they are not library files as Invol said.
Once you have done this, file>collect all and save in the new location.
