Bose PA vs Mackie active PA?
Bose PA vs Mackie active PA?
Anyone else using the new Bose PA stuff?
Surely the two 6 1/2"' woofers and 250 watts of power in the Bose system can't compete with Mackie's 12/15/18" woofers and more power (1300 watts in the SA series for about the same price as the Bose). Maybe cool for a "traditional" band, but can't see them working for DJing.
But then, I haven't heard them yet, so I should reserve judgement!

Blows 'em away. Where the traditional systems get muddy, and start to clip above a certain level, the Bose system stays clear. The sub modules are suprisingly good, and since every stick can take 6 of 'em, you shouldn't have any problems.
I DJed with a dual system of 2 sticks with 2 subs each on them - sounded amazing. And loud.

I was hesitating between Mackie and Granit for my sono ... and I took Granit ... no comparison ! at same volume : Mackie was so agressive in the mid high range ... awful !
The Granit are not well known but the sound is really good even at high volumes ...
I also have Bose (but not big sound system) and I can tell it is build like a tank ... I still have the system more than 10 years after with daily use and good sound !

I've only seen them at Guitar Center over here, at least when it comes to real world stores.hambone1 wrote:Thanks! Gotta try 'em out. Unfortunately, they don't sell them here in the UK. I may have to pop back to the States and check 'em out. Did you get yours from Bose or elsewhere? I think Guitar Center do 'em. I think they're available in Germany, too. Need to be 240V.
More speakers - but I wasn't able to tell any loss of power. They're grabbing power from the base.hambone1 wrote:One quick question - when adding additional sub modules, are they unpowered and daisy-chaining power from the main module (i.e. additional modules gets you more speakers, not more power)?
Thanks again! The Bose site is decidedly ambiguous about these things.

yes. before you go to the store, bake a CD of your stuff and have them run it through. make sure they hook up the sub too.have an old pair of bose bookshelves that just won't die. they sound surprisingly good, too. the tower p.a. sounds nice, too. see if you can find one to try and you'll have a big grin on your face.....
UTENZIL a tool... of the muse.
Nothing to be afraid of, the Bose outpeforms systems at the same price tag, but still remains distortion-free. I'm not kidding, that system is freaking loud, mate. You should take a CD of your own stuff to the store nearest to you that has one, and have them play it through the Bose.hambone1 wrote:Bump.. buying PA soon. Mackie or Bose? Will be corporate/private functions, so don't need 20kW club system with 18" subs. Really like the concept of the Bose PAS, but afraid of the lack of horsepower...
