Rewire: Live --> Reason ...MIDI Clips not translating.

Hi,

Live 6, Reason 4, OSX 10.4.11

I've got the 2 programs rewired successfully. I have created a MIDI out channel from Live to Reason successfully (I can control instruments in Reason thru Live) and an Audio In track from Reason. However, I'm having a problem when I record a MIDI clip in Live and try and play it back. It sounds OK while i'm playing on my keyboard in realtime, but when I try to playback the MIDI clip, its not registering all the notes. In fact, it seems to pick and choose notes at random from the MIDI clip.

Is anyone familiar with this problem?

Heres the fix. Drag Reason to your trash can.

Problem Solved.

Question: Do you SEE all the notes in the midi clip?

Another Question: Is your keyboard set up as a control surface in Reason as well as Live? If so, there might be something going on there. Only have it as a controller in live.

yeah dude, make sure you don't have an instrument selected in Reason.

Also, a lot of times the first note and last note in the clip can get lost because you played a hair behind or early.

Have you tried using External Instrument? Forgive me if that's just Live 7. It removes the need for two channels per inst. (midi and a return)

Try drawing in a simple predictable melody and then playing it back to see if all the notes register.

Having this exact problem whenever I create a new Ableton live set.

I have created a few songs before, and it all worked fine. Then I recently tried to use Ableton > Reason again and it plays only random notes.

1) When you play the notes, they trigger correctly, and record correctly in the midi clip

2) When you play back, you can see all the midi notes correctly recorded in the clip. The lights flash on the midi track correctly, but it only sends random notes to Reason. If you swap to reason, the 'note on' light on NNXT also is random.

It's like Ableton is only sending randomly, if it does decide to send, the link performs correctly and you hear the sound.

I have no clue what has changed, it's getting desperate =)

Here's how I fixed it, by not really fixing it at all.

I found that old sets worked fine. It was just broken for all new sets...

So I cleaned everything out of an old set, and saved that as default.

So it works, and no, I never found out what the issue was...
