Please encode "User Manual Japanese.pdf"correctly!

Post by yk » Fri Dec 11, 2009 2:47 pm

Does ableton recognize that "User Manual Japanese.pdf" is encoded by non standard and inappropriate method??

It makes user manual quite inconvenient. Japanese users cannot search and copy any Japanese words which use 2 byte characters!!

"User Manual Japanese.pdf" doesn't satisfy ISO/IEC 2022 (EUC) or ISO/IEC 10646(UTF-8 or Unicode). Who creates this file? Why has ableton ignored such a fatal problem so long time??

The problem is very famous between Japanese Users and is found in all version of ableton live both Windows and Mac.

I know this encode issues before 5or6 year ago.
and Many Japanese users escalate to ableton supports in this issues.at log time.

As you know Ableton's PDF Manual convert from LaTeX format.

Some old Japanese TeX tools(with freeware) don't support correct font mapping.
But, latest Japanese TeX tools almost support correct font mapping
following ISO/IEC standard.

It was not a technical problems,
It was ableton's serious quality management issues. I think..
Because, should be commit to ISO standard font mapping in international business.

I hope, ableton take care this issues and fix it.early!!

So, Please check out following link. >> ableton's Japanese staff
this is most famous of Japanese TeX wiki
include many TeX tools informations.

Hello Mr. Dennis,

Your Live Pack is my favorite library :D

So, This known issues, ableton don't take care vary log time.
Many Japanese users will expect fix this problem.
This is very FAQ in some japanese ableton forums.

My proposal.
If ableton provide LaTeX documents to me,
then I will try to build correct font map encodings PDF document and send back to you.

What do you think about this my proposal?

I try to explain "How to make multi-byte encoding PDF file with built-in TrueType font from LaTeX"

I will be recommend pLaTeX environment.

This following URL is pLaTeX install instruction in English.
http://w32tex.org/index.html

This environment enhanced multi-byte encoding support for TeX.

Probably, ableton use cyberbit font in Japanese Manual.
as you know, CJK package will not support multi-byte encoding built-in TrueType.
and use type1 sub-fonts not helpful for users.
