LIVE 8 Audio Stutter - Snow Leopard 10.6.2

Post by RandomGeeza » Tue Mar 09, 2010 7:30 pm

Hi, I have checked the boards and come across a few similar issues but nothing that is exact to my current experience.

I have both 7.0.18 and 8.1.1 installed on SL 10.6.2 MAC OSX, 17" Unibody, 500 G, 2.8 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 G DDR3 RAM Macbook Pro. Although they run separately and never together....

Up until recently, there have been few if any issues, but these last few weeks, the audio output seems to stutter and drop audio randomly with the D button screaming and the CPU spiking at the time the glitches occur. Activity monitor doesn't correlate with the Live CPU setup and has not identified the offending CPU culprit. My buffer is at 512 and I have multicore support on. I have a few fx's in the background but no questionable plugins. And, I'm using the program to produce and DJ mix.

I read somewhere that the longer Live is open the higher the probability of this happening and I was wondering if this a common issue. However, are their any work arounds or buttons to click to prevent this issue from happening.

You should also know that I am relatively new to Live and I have been teaching myself, so if I query your responses, please be patient.

Any suggestions or advice would be received with thanks.

{Edit} And there's a better, very similar description here: http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php? ... 1#p1095061

RG :)

Oh and it only seems to happen with Live. Audacity, iTunes, VLC, QT etc. all exhibit normal behaviour.
