Something I usually do for breakbeat or messing with samples is taking a loop and slicing it into 16 pieces. However, there are two things that take a lot of time once I've used "Slice to MIDI":
1) Changing each slice to play until the end of the sample (clicking and dragging the end marker in simpler)
2) Configuring each slice to cut the others (using the "chop" column in the rack view)
Both of these tasks involves going into each slice and making the change. Is there any way to get there quicker? FLStudio's slicer has checkboxes for both these features, so I was hoping it'd be quick in Live as well. The best I can do is move between slices with the up/down keys, and select the "chop" dropdown with the number keys, but this still involves some mouse work. Any ideas? I have Live 7.
Thanks,

Slice to MIDI + play each slice to end of sample + chop?
Re: Slice to MIDI + play each slice to end of sample + chop?
Does it help to
-take a empty drumrack
-place a Simpler on C1
- set the Simpler Release to 60s
- set the choke to 1
save this and put in the slicing preset folder?
Best,
Christian

Re: Slice to MIDI + play each slice to end of sample + chop?
Hmm, that does sound like it will help! I'll give it a try tonight! Is the slicing preset folder inside the library? Does Live just use whichever item it finds in there as the defaults?kleine wrote:Does it help to...take a empty drumrack...save this and put in the slicing preset folder?

I've also used FL for god knows how many years now and the slicer truly is the best thing for sampling ever, I'd even put it over the mpc that little thing is genius.
I'm also pretty new to ableton, If you need help or want to share info on getting ableton to work as quickly with samples as an MP or FL pm me I'm on a mission to figure out an efficient way with ableton.
