BCR2000 and Live 8 automapping problem

Post by tigali » Sat Feb 04, 2012 5:46 pm

Ok, I have tried everything I can imagine and no matter what I do my BCR2000 will not set up any automapping. I know I could go into midi map mode and map everything manually but isn't the whole point of selecting the controller in the midi preference window supposed to allow some kind of automapping? I don't want anything fancy, I just want to be able to load up any of my sets and have the BCR 2000 control volume on the tracks selected. Am I expecting too much? I have used the search function and all the threads seem to be about custom settings. Really, I just want factory settings. I can do all the fancy stuff for an individual set if I intend playing it live or serious mixing or whatever.
Right now I just want some automapping.
I have selected BCR2000 in the midi window as ins and outs, track, remote and sync. I have used dump and I have also loaded the factory preset Simple Mixer but I am getting nowhere. Please put me out of my misery!!!!

Hi,

this is one way how it should work: (I tested this under Windows 7 64 bit, Live 8.2.7, BCR firmware: 1.10)

1) use the "Only Controllers" factory-preset for the BCR (all buttons and encoders have CC-values),
which you can also find on the Behringer page and select in Midi Preferences only:

Control Surface: BCR 2000 / Input: BCR 2000 / Output: BCR 2000

No Dump necessary and nothing enabled (no Track, Sync, Remote) for the BCR under Midiports below so far.

Also have a short look into the Help View in Live and scroll all the way down to Control Surface Reference Lesson and select BCR 2000 - there you can see the mapping of the BCR used as control surface. The volume faders are mapped to the bottom encoders row.

2) now if you want to manually Midi-map other parameters too, also enable REMOTE (normally this should be enough) under Midi-Ports for "Input BCR 2000" and "Output BCR 2000".
Be careful not to use buttons or encoders which are automapped, because if, for instance, you manually midi-map the same encoder which is automapped to volume fader 1, only the manual midi-mapping is executed.

Thanks for you help. I did get it working but I performed a dump (ahem) and then switched the BCR off and on again (classic IT solution ftw!).
It is now automapped. Thanks again for your help.
