16 step APC-style sequencer for drumrack - see image APC-16

I would love to have a 16 step APC-style sequencer unit for ableton drumrack.
A dedicated unit with 16 steps would be soooo easy and fun to program beats.
I now max for live will be able to make a sequencer, but with the apc-40, you only have 8 steps and it's more dedicated to controlling clips, sends, ... for ableton and not really ideal as a drum sequencer for drumrack.

Just to make it clear, the 16 steps control the midi clip of a drumrack.
You can move the steps with the "move measure left / right" controls when you have a midi clip longer then 16 steps.
In your midi clip there would be a red square (like in session view with the APC-40) to see at wich 16 steps of the midi clip you are.

There would also be a drumrack template that matches all the hardware controls and functionality of the APC-16.

it would be great to use a modulationsource to influence sampleselect in realtime(like in N.I.'s brilliant Massive from Reaktor 5 library)

that would be great if the 4x4 drum rack grid of pads were velocity sensitive.

I think I'd be happier with a maschine clone that's integrated with ableton's drum racks instead of NI software though.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Somebody has read my dream and with the aid of photoshop, presented it to me in jpg format!!

Cant think of how many drums machines iv bought over the years just to get a simple 16 step sequencer! The closest thing iv seen in midi is a monome which are hard to get hold of.

This device is so simple and feasible , cannot believe nobody has made one already.

Somebody please send this to Akai's R&D department

This is what Akai should have done first. But they are idiots at getting the it right the first couple times. (Look at how many flukes came before MPD32 concept)

Hopefully they will consider this because the APC 40 is overkill for me.
