Quick question, does live support dual Monitors? if so how? if not why?

Great product by the way.

But I wish it did! It would be AMAZING if we could have the arrange and and mixer views in different monitors.

I would think that you could have sessionopen on one and arrange on the other pretty easily.
But what would be nice is to have a MIX view with all the tracks listed in a column like the arranger, but instead of having seqence data next to each, the track's efects would be shown. The scene track could be to the right, and at the bottom would be a pool of the track's patterns perhaps.

Anyway, I would love to have a MIX view on my 30" monitor and the session view on my laptop screen.

What I think would be more useful is to have the option to keep the mixer open even when in arrangement view. I know the parameters are on the right side, but, it would definitely get used a lot if the feature existed.

but, anyways, using a second monitor is not a totally bad idea. you can keep your plugins open on the 2nd monitor, which should work very well when changing your track selections in the mixer window.

Interesting. I'd love to be able to see my mixer & all the effects channels at the same time as well.

Yes, the mixer from the Session view in the bottom of the Arrange view.

Hello folks,

I have been using dual displays on both the Windows and Mac platforms with Live for quite some time. If you are not in full screen mode, you can stretch the window to cover the real estate of both monitors without any problems. For a time I had Live taking up a screen and a half, and left the Reason rack to take up the remainder of the second monitor. My displays show multiple tracks spread across both screens where I can view all the audio and MIDI activity during improvisational performances. Things work well for me on this front

What Live won't allow is to undock all the components such as the modular aspects of the program, though certainly VSTs will work that way. You can only switch between Session and Arrangement view. There's no way to have the two views open at the same time, though from an Object Oriented Programmer's point of view, that would be a wonderful thing to be able to create such independence between these elements. All it takes is time ! :-P

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
Glennzone
