Patch Comission? ...

Post by MFRedoom » Sun Aug 07, 2011 1:06 am

I have PayPal funds at the ready for anyone willing to take a crack at this.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/37 ... epper.jpg/

It will basically move the start position marker in 12.5% increments ( 8 steps ) or 6.25% ( 16 steps ) by receiving notes C1, C#1, D1, D#1, E1, F1, F#1, G1 ( 8 )and

C1, C#1, D1, D#1, E1, F1, F#1, G1, G#1, A1, A#1, B1, C2, C#2, D2, D#2 ( 16 ). In addition to triggering the steps it should also play the audio from the moved start

point at a selected note value.

Sorry for cluttering up the message board ( unable to delete my posts ), but after trying this concept via native live racks etc. and looking into MFL programing

( way over my head apparently ) I am looking to skilled programmers who know better than myself.

@ ShelLuser

Thanks for replying and giving it a looksee.

Sorry for not being more specific but I am looking for a controller not of clips but of the start in simpler. The 8 and 16 note range corresponds to the drum rack notes from bottom to top. The 12.5% and 6.25% is out of 100% ( Simpler ) so C1 would bump the start from 0% to 12.5% or 6.25% and so on.

What should it do with the incoming midi data?

My thought is that it would receive the messages to move the start position and then output the triggered audio at a user defined pitch within the patch. Although I suppose the data could be discarded after triggering the move/play and the simplers' transpose could be adjusted by the user for the desired pitch.

Thanks again for looking at this. I am a graphic designer by trade and programming is quite rough on my noodle

I don't think you actually need a special patch for that.
Dummy Clips would be one way to go, you could then assign a note to a clip to adjust the start position. This allows you to play notes independently, though if you're doing it from a single keyboard, you may want to switch channels.

Another option is to use the ctrlMIDInote device that comes with Max for Live. Use a MIDI Effect Rack to remap the incoming notes to the notes required to set the right values.
There's a device like that for CC's too, so thats yet another option.

Awesome so far! I really appreciate you taking the time to fiddle with this.

Note Positions: I'm sure I wasn't clear on the description again but the note values going up should trigger the values ( 0, 12.5, 25, 37.5, 50, 62.5, 75, 87.5 ) and
( 0, 6.25, 12.5, 18.75, 25, 31.25, 37.5, 43.75, 50, 56.25, 62.5, 68.75, 75, 81.25, 87.5, 93.75 ) Whew! So sorry, I should have done this before.

Sample Play-Through: Play on press only would be great if it can be achieved.

Also: The sample is waaaay pitched up with the device in front. Even with the Transpose cranked down to -48 it's still in chipmunk range. Ideally there should be no change.

All in all Thank you, Thank you, and Thank you.

1 more thing ... how do I see the patch controls in Live with no guts?

Mashing out just now I discovered that it recognizes multiple pad presses ( two at once ) and pitches the audio waaaaay down.

Also while messing about with midi mapping I am wondering if the percentages are able to be mapped relative to the adjustable sample length not the marker or sample length..does that make sense?

Thanks once again.

FRIGGIN' AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly what I was talking about.

The only thing I see so far is that the first note triggers at 12.5 and not 0%.

Other than that OMG!!!!!

After playing around with the patch for a few hrs. I have found that it is pitching up as the audio as it goes up the scale. Is there any way to fixed value the output so pitch up/down can be controlled via transpose or even a transpose knob within the patch.

Fantastic work sir... I am not worthy of your awesomeness!

You should post on maxforlive.com as soon as you feel it's ready

Also, you said that you don't have paypal but I would really like to purchase and send you a few bandcamp download links or something.

Please let me know and thanks a mil!
