Help: First kick always sounds different (WAV included)
Help: First kick always sounds different (WAV included)
Hi folks,
i just can´t figure out how to have a solid first kick.
I tried to disable fades, but in arrangement view you can´t really turn fades off, or i don´t get how to do so.
Here is the first bar of a track where you can clearly hear, that the first kick sounds different compared to the following. I bounced the Kick down to audio btw.
The "fade" button of that clip in Session view is turned off.
Any help really appreciated!
Thomas
I uploaded the file here (484kb WAV File):

And here is a picture of the Clip:

i was reading something about this here the other day, sorry i can't remember the thread
i think it was a bug that made the volume envelope fade the start of the first kick even with the fade button off

Ok, i send it to the support.
Seems to be a problem when using Battery´s own routing system to a new audiotrack, cause when i route via the "audio to" from Live itself the first Bassdrum sounds just fine. But the cell-out-routing from Battery is very nice handled, so i hope they can fix it anyhow.

Re: Help: First kick always sounds different (WAV included)
i'm thinking you just haven't cut the kick probably. Make sure to cut the kick at the zero line.
Re: Help: First kick always sounds different (WAV included)
No, cause when i put the loop startpoint to the second kick and start from there it still sounds messed up.michaellpenman wrote:i'm thinking you just haven't cut the kick probably. Make sure to cut the kick at the zero line.

Re: Help: First kick always sounds different (WAV included)
Yeah but are you set the loop correct for that loop.
Take a screen shot that will at least rule out that possibility.

Re: Help: First kick always sounds different (WAV included)
yeah it looks like you are cutting of a very small part of the front of the kick.
make sure to warp on the zero like .
you can load the sample into the sampler or simpler and do the midi from there

When i start the Clip in Sessionview the first Kick sounds just as it should!michaellpenman wrote:yeah it looks like you are cutting of a very small part of the front of the kick.

Problem starts as soon as I drag this very clip over to Arrangementview. All of a sudden the first kick is somehow cut off!
There is nothing cut off in the Clip, or it should sound wrong in Sessionview as well, right?
I now used one Batteryinstanz just for the Kickdrum (could have used Simpler but what the hell).

Re: Help: First kick always sounds different (WAV included)
Ok definitely something fishy going on, maybe due to the Fades (which can´t be deactivated in Sessionview in Live 8!).
Just do this simple test:
-create a 4/4 Kickdrum loop in Battery, Simpler or whatever Sampler you like
-freeze / flatten that track
-in Sessionview the first kickdrum should sound just like it should
-drag the clip over to Arrangementview: the first Kickdrum sounds different (muffled/ cut)
I use Live 8.0.3 on Windoes XP SP3

Re: Help: First kick always sounds different (WAV included)
if the loop is not in time it'll sound strange. did you try to replace the wav with the orginal?
Re: Help: First kick always sounds different (WAV included)
Hm, not sure if i understand correct.jteck wrote:if the loop is not in time it'll sound strange. did you try to replace the wav with the orginal?
What do you mean with "replace the wav with the orginal" ?
Can it really be, that a loop in the Sessionview sounds different to when dropped into arrangement view??
Cause when I play the very same loop from sessionview together with everything else from arrangementview the loop sounds just right. When i drag it over to arrangement the first Kickdrum sounds different.
Shouldn´t be right, or?

Re: Help: First kick always sounds different (WAV included)
need to link the recent threads, which I think are the ones mentioned in the first response:
http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=115891
the original thread is linked from that one.
