Help with Control Surface Auto-Selecting drum racks please!

Post by Eloheim » Fri Mar 13, 2009 8:57 am

Sorry that's a mouthful I know. I've tried to figure this out or find an answer in here but can't. I'm not up to date on all that BCR 2000 stuff here though so forgive me if necessary.

I'm chopping a sample (song) by doing slice to midi track (drum rack). I want to be able to have the knobs on my BCR 2000 change a certain parameter on whichever sample (chop) I'm looking at right now.

I'm almost there. I set up my BCR as a control surface. I turned on "Auto-Select" on the drum rack. And then I disabled all the macro controls.

Now when I play a key on my keyboard, the corresponding pad will play its sample (simpler), and I can see whichever one I've played last because it automatically brings it up.

The annoying this is that I still have to physically click on the simpler with my mouse to get the little hand icon to show up on it(meaning the control surface is attached).

Is there a way to set it up so the device/chain that is auto-selected also gets the control surface attached to it??

no,you can't in live 7,however in live 8 you can assign midi-notes to a device header(where you see the blue hand).just put them on a different midi-channel than the notes you use to trigger your sounds in your drumracks.
hope that helps

Thank you very much for your answer!

I'm disappointed but at least I know now. Anyone else have a different opinions about whether or not this is possible? Cause I don't have any reason to doubt tetra here.
