Hey Yall,
I just posted up a tutorial about how to use Magic Sends in Ableton. This will allow you to use effects in return tracks as if they were directly inline with any track in the set. This technique is similar to effects in DJ programs such as Traktor or dj64 and will save you CPU!
Check out the tutorial and tell me what you think!

Note that using this technique, you can't really use the send level as a dry/wet knob. Due to the phase cancelling, the volume level is not really linear. You should map the send level to a button, so you can toggle between 0 % and 100 % instantly.

One can use this trick using just one send track (just to tidy up things).
Put desired effect on a send track and make it full wet > group it > put Utility Invert preset on a new chain inside a rack > feed some audio >
Have fun. )
As for the video, it's too long, it took almost 3 minutes to find out that it's just plain old utility trick.
(no offence, just my 2 cents) Although i'm quite sure that it would help a lot of new guys.

nice! been using the 2 sends trick for a few years now, never thought to just create a phase inverted fx rack.momo182 wrote:One can use this trick using just one send track (just to tidy up things).

Re: Magic Sends Video Tutorial
Cool way to use sends. Only thing is can't this be achieved through another way that gives you better mixing control ? I use a bus for all my drum and bass and just turn every track to sends only and that way I can mic with the tracks main volume instead of the send (as long as send is on post). Is there a real benefit versus that way and your magic sends ? Just trying to get my signal chain down perfect.
Thanks !
Thanks !
