Re: no more bad music from slipnot!!!!!!!
Awful group IMO, watered down thrash, nu-metal shit.
Same experience with Kiss that I had with them. Saw pictures of the cool stage show, thought the group would be scary, freaky and have some tongue in cheek humor to the music.
Turns out they could have easily been any number of nu-metal bands from the 90's/early 2000's.
Should have known better after hearing Kiss and realizing it was just glam pop rock.
Give me Slayer and Meshugah any day of the week.

Re: no more bad music from slipnot!!!!!!!
Even in my hard rock/metal hey day over 25 years ago, I always thought kiss sucked. The make up was cool but the songs were weak compared to priest, sabbath, scorpions, acdc, purple......early metalica, megadeath, slayer, exodus, destruction, merciful fate, etc....Machinesworking wrote:Awful group IMO, watered down thrash, nu-metal shit.

I don't listen to hard music these days but the other day at the gym something was blaring on the radio....Sounded just like where I left off with white zombie in the 90's....but was not white zombie. Simply no originality (I acknowledge that being out of the "scene" there are probably awesome bands that I am not familiar with today)

Maiden
Priest
Sabbath
That is Metal. These new bands are faggy lame wanna be excuses. They are gay little school girls posing with their shiny guitar that mommy bought them because they finished their 12 weeks of piano lessons.
Hate the posers.
Love the real thing.

Re: no more bad music from slipnot!!!!!!!
Any thoughts on Mudvayne? I could see them easily getting hated on by old schoolers but a few years back after being out of the metal scene for a long time my cousin would listen to Mudvayne constantly and it sort of got me reinterested in metal, or at least revisting the old metal bands I used to listen to.
Re: no more bad music from slipnot!!!!!!!
Not a Slipknot fan but a lot of people like spitting on graves. Hope they do the same to yours......

Re: no more bad music from slipnot!!!!!!!
is that a way of speaking of criticizing already dead stuff??spitting on graves

Maiden
Priest
Sabbath
That is Metal.
Maiden, Priest = Heavy Metal
Sabbath = Metal monument (with led zeppelin IMHO)
These new bands are faggy lame wanna be excuses.

you're entitled to your opinion, but you seem a bit extremist with such a general categorization.
there is crap in every genre, obviously,
but don't you give ANY chance to ANY "new band" ???
You're speaking of slipknot, ok, but what other "new" bands are you categorizing into "faggy lame wanna be"???
Meshuggah, Opeth, Mastodon, Tool, Slayer?
I know you're not, but you seem like an idiot with such ridiculous hate

I have listened to them quite a few times, back in 2000 that was cool new-metal. But I never thought of them as one of the best bands for me. Not that bad, not that cool, Mud-vayneAny thoughts on Mudvayne?

cheers
And don't any of you dare criticize Meshuggah or I'll kill yo

Re: no more bad music from slipnot!!!!!!!
Are you inferring that
A - the bass player was fundamental in writing all of Slipknots music?
or
B - the band will now cease to exist following the death of the bassist?

@ Aizo: I wasn't spitting. RIP: Paul Gray. Anyone that can live their dream has my unwavering respect. Just not a fan.
@Supamonsta: I am definitely ignorant to current metal bands and generally ignorant to most metal bands. My sweeping metal generalizations were obviously an unsuccessful attempt at humor.
I was brought up on Van Halen, AC/DC and Zeppelin evolved to Chicago house then to Industrial and back to house / Electronica.
How about that last episode of 24? pretty sweet eh?

Re: no more bad music from slipnot!!!!!!!
I didn't know that Paul Gray was dead when I posted, so apologize if anyone thinks I'm spitting on his grave.
I'm not - but I can't sugar coat my dislike for this group either.
Motorhead and Iron Maiden (Number Of The Beast and Piece Of Mind especially are phenomenal albums) are my two favourites, with many other worthy contenders. I hate hair metal bands like Motley Crue, Twisted Sister, Poison, etc.
Metallica up to the Black album before they became pissy little bitches and money grubbers were good too, especially Master Of Puppets album.
Slipknot, Korn, etc are all overhyped.
Metal seems to be making a bit of a comeback, my buddy Dan Sindel, who had a short lived metal band Brutal Peace recently posted a 3 track demo recording made in 1995 and he's already had tens of thousands of hits, several metal magazine interviews etc. and lots of positives to the point that he's thinking of resurrecting this long dead project.

ok then, I didn't grasp the irony, my badChilDj wrote:My sweeping metal generalizations were obviously an unsuccessful attempt at humor

I'm into metal music since early nineties, and I didn't see this scene kinda disappear then come back??? (anyway, since the 1990, perhap's are you comparing with years before, but I was too young...) For me this genre and all subgenres is really alive and full of great talented bands, like a big rock that has all along always been there, and I often went here and there (dub, jazz, electro, rave, electronica, reggae...), sometimes loosing myself, but ALLWAYS able to get back to this solid rock with everytimes great bands to discover and rediscover!!Leedsquietman wrote:Metal seems to be making a bit of a comeback,
I didn't know that Slipknot's bassist was dead, but with their masks, how could one know who's plaing?? rofl, no offense to them, as Leeds said, "I can't sugarcoat my dislike to this band either" (liking this sentence

slipknot is a bit like the deadmau5 of the new-metal scene, very capable, but owned by business
