Something Completely Different...

Post by crumhorn » Wed Feb 29, 2012 2:29 pm

...from what I normally do.

Recently I've been practicing on my Spanish guitar a lot and not doing much with Live.

So I bought a pair of piezo bug pickups for it so I could record it into Live and play around with it.

Also I just bought the ProjectSAM Orchestral Ensemble Essentials pack.

So here's a track that uses both - based on an 8 bar loop of me improvising on the guitar accompanied by the legato brass and string ensembles and a big drum from the Sonica Japanese Taiko Percussion pack.

It's quite melancholy - desolate even. If I was inclined to be pretentious I might say it was a war requiem or something of that ilk.

That's cool very filmic, like something from a melancholy western where a guy has to go shoot a bunch of people after they shoot his daughter (I would of said Pa, but it's not that type of movie).
The guitar sounds great through the pickups, no nasty traces of whatever room you recorded it in. A nice clear tone in a nice space. I like the orchestral arrangement. The strings sound good from the ProjectSAM pack and the percussion too I'm guessing? The whole thing is of a quality that you could hear it def being used.

nice work.

i don't know if filmic is a word, but i like it. definitely a western, Tarantino flick, or any kind of "shits done changed" type scene where an overhead view of the land and manifestation of past happenings is taking place in some kind of montage scenario is where i can "see" this in my mind's eye.

love the ending.

thanks for the nice feedback guys,

if you can write the screenplay then we're good to go!

it has the same effect on me too! but with me it's more like a world war one batlefield. different cultural references I suppose.

Drum sound is from the Sonica Taiko Drum pack
