Just watched Eyes Wide Shut for the first time yesterday. Holy shit!! I think I've already gone through 3 separate thought cycles of "what was that really about" since watching it. Sooo dense.

Speaking of TC, I was pleasantly surprised how good Valkyrie (2008) was. Gets its Hollywood tax out of the way in the first minute, then it's solid historical thriller all the way.

Saw Argo.

meh.

I mean, it was okay and all but a bit of a snooze fest, really.

The fact that there's even a smidgen of praise for Jimmy Carter is rather pathetic *but not unexpected, of course*.

The douche willingly provided safe harbour for the mass murdering torture loving Shah, and brooks no quarter in my book.

Song remains the same is a classic of the "fake live performance" promo film genre.

Watch as Robert plant sings and moves the mic away from his face and down to his hip, the volume stays exactly the same.
After they got the footage they realised the playing and singing was as sloppy as every other (bootleg) recording of the time shows them to be. So they just recorded the audio in the studio.

After the Woodstock film tuned Santana into superstars the rec co.s realised that a good live movie was the best way to blow up a band. And they didn't take chances on sloppy guitar work and atonal wailing.

Angstrom, you're a cruel cruel person!

I mean… - wasn't it enough to crush the romantic fantasies of thousands of nsfw pic thread viewers with stuff like "No no no! That .gif is from a commercial! It's not real!" in your ongoing anti-fake crusade?

Interesting link though! :)

As it turns out, it was the Canadians who came up with most of the strategy and planning - not Ben Affleck.

I thought Sinister was pretty good in the played out found footage genre, although you knew fairly early how it was going to end and be set up for a sequel.
