dragging midi to audio track makes the audio track midi

Dear all,

As I understand it: dragging (while holding command) a midi clip to an audio track should render it to audio. But when I do this it changes the audio track to a midi track and copies the midi clip on to it. It's driving me nuts! What am I doing wrong? If you could tell me I would be eternally thankfull!

you can do so IF the midi track is frozen.

freeze the midi track then you can drag any frozen clip to an audio track to get the audio

Thanks! But is this a feature that changed over time? Because on YouTube I see people dragging a midi clip that is not frozen. Could be I'm not seeing this correctly
