RECORDING MIDI FROM A ROLAND TD-17

Wassup yall, Im trying to record my drums into midi using a Roland TD-17 I have it connected to my pc via the midi out into my pc's USB port, but im having trouble actually receiving a signal. I played around with the internal settings, ableton preferences etc but i cant get a signal - ANY advice is much appreciated im quite the newb in this realm of music making big thanks in advance <3 - CROSSMYHEART

Maybe you need to download the TD-17 driver from the Roland website:

I had similar issues, eventually got it all set up to record but then found it didn't work very well - lots of hits weren't recorded, velocity was seemingly random at times, latency seemed to vary. Audio worked fine, but I gave up on MIDI from the TD-17 and use a Launchpad Pro if I want to record MIDI.
