Thinking of integrating my Doepfer into my Machinedrum based live set. Anyone have any experience making patches on the fly in the middle of show?? :D

1. what are you planning to do exactly?

2. what "doepfer" device do you have?

3. what do you mean by "your machinedrum based live set" ?

Because mine has 8 oscillators, 8 filters, 8 VCAs, 8 env generators etc etc it is possible to patch up 4 or 5 different sounds independent of each other and have them appear on different mixer channels as if they were independent synths.

It works very well.

Man, every time you post responses about different gear you own no less than 4 of them. Leave some gear for the rest of us. Sheesh.

:D different setup.

well I certainly won't be bringing out anything of that size. Mine's a suitcase portable and usually monotimbral. Still... I guess I'll start integrating it into my live set and see what happens.

It's an Analogue Systems TH48 - which was kind-of the prototype for the RS200. Mine has been modified with a "reset to step 16" socket and a MOOG S-Trigger socket.

The 1u black thing with the green buttons to the right is a Digi Atom 4800 CV-to-MIDI converter which, as its name suggests, converts analogue voltage modulation sources to midi CC data - which enables me to control any plugin parameter or Nuendo knob with the Doepfer LFOs or other mod generators.

On top of that is a Roland MPU-101 MIDI-CV converter and just poking its nose in bottom left is a Korg Monopoly.

I don't have a rich Dad or anything. I've built my studio up over the last 24 years and I drive a 30 yr old VW van which lets in water by my feet.

nice stuff. A euro rack system is my next planned expenditure.

as far as modulars in live performance, this fellow does it exclusively:

well, its a semi-modular. a buchla music easel is really all one module, but it's extremely flexible and everything is patchable. Charles also as a bunch of kit and homebrew modules added to the empty space in the case around the sucker. he's one of the best there is, and one of the nicest cats you could ever meet.
