Steinway Sells Out

Hmm, this kind of thing never seems to bode well for companies that make high quality products.

no, but they're cashing out in style. clearly, that buyer wants the product... they're essentially paying more than it's worth.

Look at the years between 1870 and 1930. As surprising as this may sound today, the biggest-ticket item on every household budget besides the house itself was its piano. Everyone had to have one. Those who didn't have one aspired to have one. It was a prize, an essential part of life, and they sold by the millions and millions. (http://mises.org/daily/3253)

The time of the piano is over. Long live nano controllers.

There could be worse buyer, like this one:
"Concert Grand Piano That Will Define the Look and Sound of Your Room or Décor"
http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/EG8280USB.aspx
On their Spanish site was even better , no mention of "sound" just the "decor"

stringtapper, i dunno if you've seen this, but it's absolutely brilliant.

Maybe you can dig up a free stream but here's a link. Worth a few bucks no prob.

Yep watched it on Netflix a while back. Great stuff.

I hate to think of those guys being out of their jobs and that level of craftmanship being curtailed in favor of cutting costs for the bottom line.

Going to watch it again on this day off. Thanks for reminding me about it knotkranky. :)

Cheers, i'm gonna watch again too.

They won't get rid of the workers. They're too valuable. The buy-out possibly included a raise.... i hope.
