Resizing Group tracks in arrangement view
Resizing Group tracks in arrangement view
Is there a way of resizing large groups in arrangement view? The height of a group increases gradually as you add more tracks to it. Now with nested groups in Live 10 I really want to pack an entire sample-based orchestra into one group (about 150 tracks), as it would would be perfect for my scoring workflow. However, the size of the 'orchestra' group track is visually disturbing. Any way to make it smaller?

Re: Resizing Group tracks in arrangement view
I second this question. The extremely tall groups are such a hindrance that it actually inhibits my ability to even use nested groups. Very disappointing. Let us collapse them!

This is actually filled as a bug for quite some time now.

Just noticed this in 10.1. Very annoying.

Re: Resizing Group tracks in arrangement view
It's not really a bug though. Collapsed groups show tiny lanes for each track in the group, which is why groups with more tracks are taller. What we're really asking for is the ability to make a collapsed group shorter than the minimum height required to display its contents, at which point the contents should just not be displayed. I'll send that to them as an enhancement request.[jur] wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 2:58 amPlease report to support@ableton.com, the more reports the more chances we'll get this thing fixed.

Re: Resizing Group tracks in arrangement view
Okay, here's the enhancement request I sent:
In the Arrangement view, I want to be able to resize lanes that represent groups the same way as all other lanes. Currently they have a minimum height enforced by the number of tracks in the group, because the content of the group is displayed as a thumbnail when the group is collapsed.
What I'd like to see: if you make the lane shorter than the minimum height required to display the content, just hide the content and instead show proxy clips that represent the location of clips in the content. Dragging a proxy clip would move all the underlying clips for all tracks in the group. When the lane is tall enough to show the thumbnails, they should be shown inside the proxy clip, which would allow easily selecting and moving regions for the entire group without having to expand the group. (I know it's possible to move thumbnail clips if you make a selection that also includes at least one normal clip in another lane, but that's a clumsy workaround.)

Would also like to see this fixed so that group tracks can be made as small as you like. Also would like the ability to hide tracks please, thank you so much!

Re: Resizing Group tracks in arrangement view
I'm used to it now, but I don't like it. Not using the arranger for live performance I don't need that information at all. The names and colors are more than enough hint. I just keep my groups small and use more of them.
+1 and I voted for it on centercode.

I would also be very happy if you could resize the nested groups. I love how easy it is to group tracks, but I usually send to an audio track instead - to avoid those biiig group folders clogging up my view.
