Discharging Push Standalone battery

The manual says that to calibrate the battery charge meter, I should charge the battery all the way and then discharge it all the way. Is there anything to that beyond leaving Push turned on with the external power supply disconnected until it shuts itself off? Most battery-powered computing devices go into some kind of standby mode well before the battery runs down.
