Re: External Instrument vs regular input
My bad, misread something there. This might help: well in my experience MIDI output devices vary in quality.. and have different latencies.. so it's important to adjust the midi latency in the output prefs. (for each port !) the game is to have less stress both on cpu and on Midi output data/ports ...

Re: shoegaze/dream pop sound
Really digging this thread. Bringing back all kinds of great messed up memories! One group left out of the shoegaze discussion is Slowdive. Not quite as raucous as MBV or Ride, but in the vein nonetheless.

Re: Ableton crashing a lot lately...Memory Issue?
I had this problem running an i7 macbook pro 2.66ghz when I was running 10.6.5. Updated to 10.6.6 and your problems will most likely go away. You should still add more ram to your system. 3gb is not enough - you should add an additional 4gb. Ideally you want to give a full 4gb to Live, and let your ...

Re: Sennheiser HD 650 vs.600
Sony 7506's will pancake your ears and leave you with bad mixes. Terrible headphones. Owned them for a long time before I finally woke up. Use them for an hour and your ears will hate you for a year. Sennheiser 600's are more flat / neutral to my ears than the 650's. The 650's have a lot of bass and...

Re: Add control for external midi devices!
I would kill for this feature. I am trying to do a really basic version using the "external instrument" and putting it in a control rack so that I can label the 8 most important CC values that I want to remember. That way I can open the clip, select the CC, and tweak. Only problem is that ...

Re: dual monitor support damnit!!!!!
coming from apple logic I must say it is really frustrating when you are not able to tear windows (like midi editing) apart from the main screen. this is a big one for me. I feel too confined and it kills my flow

Re: Add MIDI control to External Instrument!
This is one of the last huge hurdles that I have to completely move myself off of Logic 9. I have a ton of MIDI hardware, but live doesn't give you the ability to control it in any organized fashion. The hyper editor in Logic is fantastic - you can build custom MIDI control groups for each piece of ...
