While you can loop with Live, in my experience it is not easy. After much frustration I've found it much easier to just use a hardware looper (a Digitech Jamman). There are also a number of looping plugins that work well in Live and many are much easier to use for this application than Live. These P...

64-bit seems dead in the water for audio. For some applications like 3D rendering it makes a lot of sense. For audio I just don't see it gaining enough momentum. It seems like there are a couple audio applications like a sampler with huge banks of samples loaded where 64-bit may have a use. Why not ...

i have tried the triggered synths with my guitar, they work well enough as a modifier to the guitar sound. I would not want to alter my guitar playing style in order make better synth sounds. In order to play softsynths in a way that I can use my guitar note position knowledge, I am getting some ci...

Playing MIDI guitar does require adjusting your playing style, usually for a more clean, precise technique. But it's not all that different from other the various different playing styles needed for many types of guitar playing. It seems that almost each different patch requires a slightly different...

I actually bought my first MIDI interface and sequencing software from Computers and Music circa 1986. It was for a Casio "cheezy" CZ-101 which I bought at Macy's department store.

What I don't get is just what the USB port offers, is it audio, is it the same signal that goes down the 13 pin connection? My understanding is that USB iGuitar outputs only the electro-accoustic (piezo) or dry electricmagnetic sound on the USB. The idea is that you plug the USB into your computer ...

For what it's worth, when using MIDI I use my Godin Freeway SA primarily with a Roland GR-20. I am quite pleased with the combo. It tracks well. I also have an older GI-10 which I bought used. It doesn't track as well as the GR-20. There's a little extra latency when using the GR-20 as a MIDI source...

I would highly recommend trying any guitar out before buying it. Or at least buy from someone who will allow returns without a penalty. The Brian Moore guitars are nice although a bit flashy for my taste. But you can order them with toned down looks. You can get them with black hardware rather than ...

Also the M-Audio M-Powered version of ProTools doesn't support the DV Toolkit video module. ProTools LE which is almost the same feature set as M-Powered does support the DV Toolkit option. ProTools LE works only with Digidesign-brand hardware like the mBox and the 002.

Re: protools m-powered

Anyone knows about protools m-powered. How good is it? Do i have a big advantage when using it together with live instead of live alone. I'm just thinking about it to get into protools because for a lot of producer jobs at tv stations and stuff like that protools skills are needed. What do you thin...

Early reports indicate that the hard drive in the new MacBook can be easily upgraded by end users. As easy as upgrading RAM.

Probably the easiest way is to use a plugin.

Here are some.

Mac:
Loopy Llama
Musolomo
Augustus Loop

Windows:

You can drag and drop from iTunes into Live on Windows as long as the file is a format Live understands like MP3 or WAV.

I don't know if it works on Mac because I don't have the current version of Live installed on my Mac.

They should have made one of those ads where the Mac slacker guy is juggling a beachball colored hacky-sack for 10 minutes while everyone else is trying to get his attention.
