All Bootcamp does is make the nice new EFI firmware look like the crappy ancient BIOS firmware so Windows can boot. After it's booted there's no interaction.

The M-Audio Projectmix IO has touch sensitive motorized faders. It's a a good piece of kit with lots of capability and excellent audio IO. Not in the same league as a Mackie but cheaper. Many here have had poor experiences with the ProjectMix and M-Audio. So take that under advisement. I've had good...

I've been unable to get the M-Audio ProjectMix I/O to work under Vista RTM (build 6000). I tried installing the current M-Audio FireWire Family drivers (5.10.00.5036 and 5.10.00.5036v2) in XP compatibility mode and that allows them to install, but computer doesn't seem to be able to detect the Proje...

but as long as hardware vendors update their drivers there shouldn't be any issues with most hardware. This is probably the thorniest issue for Live users. So far I've found some XP sound drivers work in Vista, but many do not. Often the problems seem to be just with the installers. Vista supports ...

I've been using Vista with Live 5.2 and now 6.01 for a few months. Most recently with the final RTM version. Works fine. One thing is Live kills Vista's Aero Glass features (transparent windows, 3D task switch, live thumbnails, etc). Not a big deal as it comes back when you quit the program.

Edirol PCR-1 XP driver 1.01 works in Vista RTM build 6000. Performance of the ASIO driver is pretty bad on my 2GHz Core Duo Acer laptop. But it does work as does DX/WDM and MIDI. DX/WDM performance is similarly poor. The XP 1.01 driver was from the Edirol.com site. The XP driver labeled 2.00 on the ...

Re: Review: Mac Pro beats Dell on price

This is from an article on the AP newswire. For years,Macintosh computers have been praised for their cool looks and elegant simplicity while being knocked for often carrying a hefty price premium over Windows-based machines sold by Dell Inc. and others. It's time to think different — again. The re...

looks fine, but why the hell do they go USB in that pricerange? More fallout from those stupid 4-pin mini-firewire ports that all the Wintel mfrs put on their laptops to save 5 cents. NI wouldn't be able to sell enough Firewire versions to justify the design decision, because so many laptop users w...

Ok, been fiddling around for a bit and I "think" Ok, I start by creating a total of 7 midi tracks, 1 for each string and one to run my VST. I then set the input for each track as a seperate midi channel so tr1 is ch1 ect. Set each tracks output to midi track 7. I add absynth 3 as midi tra...

Maybe I should have mentioned that I'm running a mac coz I don't think I have any dlls here. (I think that dlls are a Windows thing, right?) As long as you are not running on an Intel Mac. Reaktor doesn't yet support Intel Macs. All plugins on the Mac MUST run in the same binary mode as the host ap...

No, they will conflict. Mackie mode is just a bunch of MIDI note and CC events. You can use both controllers at the same time but the ProjectMix is usually in a Mackie mode,(or a mode like the Live mode which is a variation on a Mackie mode). You can't have the BCF in Mackie mode too. The BCF would ...
