Re: Pls validate my understanding about Live, M1 and Rosetta
I do not own an M1. Same position as you. Some problems are reported here in the forum. So far I am sticking with my old Intel machine

Re: CPU overload M1 chip on Big Sur Mac OS
I think Live during the years embedded a lot of third party code. Thing as FX, Instruments, M4L. Keeping your lifecycle in sync it's very hard when it doesn't belong entirely on your company. Maybe they should release an M1 Native version without the third party stuff while catching up. Much better ...

Re: upgrading from Live 10 suite to Live 11
I made it at day 1 of release.
The comping and probability alone to me where enough for the upgrade, including the hope that L11 is more likely to be ported to M1 Macs sooner or later.
Everybody's perception of value is different so check out the demo.

Re: Drum rack :: advantages and disadvantages
I am coming from the analog world. Back in the day Acoustic Drums were miked and placed in the Mixing console taking a lot of single channels. When the Drum Set was big it was a problem for those 16 channels mixing consoles.... I use Drum Racks a lot and they are the foundation of every rhythm secti...

Re: Pls validate my understanding about Live, M1 and Rosetta
I don't think 4 is true; at least I hope it isn't. I have seen youtubers use all sort of hardware with live on M1 machines; and you need a dedicated M1 driver anyway for your hardware to work at all (or class compliant; but that's for small and simple interfaces). If it's true that would make live ...

Re: Pls validate my understanding about Live, M1 and Rosetta
Great thank you!
Interesting that an audio card which has native core audio can run while Ableton runs emulated in Rosetta.

Re: Pls validate my understanding about Live, M1 and Rosetta
Thanks for reply. Very reassuring.
Does Scarlett has a M1 specific driver or it's class compliant?
Good to know you were able to restore your operations and music making.
Are you on a 8GB or 16GB apple silicon?
Thanks again,
Pasha

Pls validate my understanding about Live, M1 and Rosetta
I've been browsing the web lately to check the overall cost of migrating to Apple Silicon and compatibility of my plugins / controllers / Audio card I have observed that some of my controllers/ Audio cards will be supported under Rosetta and some have reached end of life (no drivers). However I need...

Re: Live 11 vs Live 10 Requirements
Thanks. Nowadays M1 Macs are not upgradable after-sales so I was worried that yesteryear "4GB ok" and "8GB better" was dismissed.
So we can say that in any case 8GB are reccomended as minimum. If you use big multi-sampled libraries often get 16GB instead.
Right?
Thanks
Pasha

Live 11 vs Live 10 Requirements
Well, I was checking this lately: https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001663530-Live-Minimum-System-Requirements because I am looking for a new computer. Interestingly enough, it seems that Live 11 is more RAM hungry than Live 10 and the RAM requirements have doubled for both Windows and M...

Re: MacOS Big Sur and M1 (Apple Processor) support
Thanks, really appreciate this. Useful. About the RAM are you using a lot or still behind 8GB? (I saw you have a 16GB machine)

Re: MacOS Big Sur and M1 (Apple Processor) support
Interesting point. Thanks. My feeling is that at the moment, M1 is not ready for prime time with Ableton and Plugins. This happens also with some Video Editing apps and Plugins. Intel is still better supported now IMHO. However, some end of life Intel Macs needs a replacement and I have big doubts a...
