TouchDAW vs TouchOSC vs ???

Which is better, TouchDAW, TouchOSC or something else? I'd like to control channel levels and EQ in ableton on PC from an android phone over wifi, so someone can balance our live set from front of house.

Re: making live behave like a synth with changing presets

@Pitch Black - sounds cool but only works for 8 patches right?

@Tagor - that does look nice, though I'm not using omnisphere and my hardware doesn't look like that either, but is there a way to generalize whatever you're doing to racks and remote sl?

making live behave like a synth with changing presets

Man it's years since I've been on here! I've just started using live again as a sort of live synth. One thing I've never found a good way to do in live is to remotely select presets like a synth would. When I say preset I mean a synth + bunch of effects, not necessarily within a single plugin. The c...

Re: Novation remote SL mk2 (not) automapping to big vst synths

Yeah, Automap is installed, open and recognises the controller. What version of automap are you using? I have a feeling they may have changed how it works

Softsynth with velocity-aftertouch-wheel responsive presets?

On my good old Korg Prohecy, near enough every preset responds in interesting ways to velocity, aftertouch, mod wheel and two other controllers (log+ribbon, a bit like an xy pad). Now while I can program synths all day if I'm in the mood, I do like having a bunch of presets to flick through and jam ...

Re: Novation remote SL mk2 (not) automapping to big vst synths

So I found the Options.txt command -_PluginAutoPopulateThreshold=-1 Which solves some prolems and creates others, still, I'll stick with it for now - great - cheers! Still can't get the automap software to recognise Ableton, though, press automap on the remote and it says no client is connected (tho...

Re: Novation remote SL mk2 (not) automapping to big vst synths

Hi, thanks for replies all Those of you who say automap can happen outside of Live, what version are you using? I thought as of v4 all automap happened inside live? When I press the 'automap' button it tells me no automap clients are connected even though Live and the automap server are running, is ...

Novation remote SL mk2 (not) automapping to big vst synths

So, just picked up a second hand remote SL. I was under the impression that you could predefine mappings for your favourite synths. So for example, in massive you could automap the macro controllers 1-8 to bank 1 of the 8 automap knobs, and then put some other stuff in bank 2, etc. But Ableton seem ...

Re: Automap type keyboards that aren't automap

I haven't used automap yet, I'm considering buying a remote sl mk2. Previously I have used bcr2000 and emu x board (including with mackie control emulation which I found unsatisfying). I still use the BCR for live gigs. But I'd like to add something that gives me a bit more hands on control over vst...

Automap type keyboards that aren't automap

Are there alternatives to automap out there? i.e. automatically mapping controllers with little screens that tell you what the controls are mapped to. And have a keyboard on?

I know about mackie control but they just make mixer-type controllers, not keyboards.

Re: That periodic 'what laptop' thread ... plus firewire

Thanks all. Yes, we already have 2 firewire boxes in the house that I'd rather not replace right now. There are some refurbished win 7 think pads out there that look like the way forward. Thanks for confirming my firewire/win 8 suspicions!

That periodic 'what laptop' thread ... plus firewire

Hi dudes, trying to buy a laptop again, and it's been a while so I'm a bit out of date. Is live fine on windows 8 now? Any recommendations for cheap but decent laptops that still support firewire ? It seems hard to come by these days :( I used to think toshiba, asus were about my price point. Thinkp...

Automation problems jamming with Virus TI in Ableton

I wonder if you guys could help me with this. What I want to be able to do (is it too much to ask?!) is mess around on the virus, tweak automation, and have everything I do recorded in Ableton as either midi or automation so I can go back and edit it later. Now as far as I see it there are two ways ...

Live 9 EQ8 hi/low cut

Please provide x2, x3 versions of the low and high cut as well as x4 (which for many purposes I would find too steep).

Presumably only a couple of lines of code!
