Re: Any idea why this is happening?
Thanks for the info leifonmars! Unfortunately, I deleted my preferences file, and the problem hasn't gone away. On top of that, Live stopped cooperating when I use Hanz Petrov's remote script for the APC40...midi in is recognized but no interaction between software and hardware. Regular APC script s...

Preference files? Where exactly could I find these? Nothing else seems to be working right now so I might give that a shot...nowtime wrote:I've heard of people trashing their preference files when in trouble. Never needed to do that. Maybe you could search for info about this.

Any idea why this is happening?
So recently Live crashed on me and now when I try to set up my midi prefs, no device names are recognized. Everything in the input/output dropdown menus is "USB Midi Device". Anybody know how this can happen/how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Re: "Slice to new midi track" + akai apc40?
It's not great for performance because you have to hard map your entire clip launch grid but it's fantastic for production if you can put up with slicing/follow actions/mapping every time you want to use a different audio source. However, I'm mainly concerned about producing. Geddy suggested drum r...

Re: "Slice to new midi track" + akai apc40?
is there any way i can rig my apc40 to accommodate my needs of triggering sliced audio? ideally, i'd like to drag in some of my already produced beats, slice to a new midi track and delete the midi notes on this midi track, then record me triggering the sliced up transients with the 40 pads. im onl...

Setting up IAC BUS
Hi, Max Runtime/monomulator/MIDI routing n00b here trying to set up monomulator on my APC40 with 8.2.1 and OSX. I set up 2 IAC Busses in AudioMidi preferences by clicking the add port button. But, when I open live's prefs or monomulator I don't see the IAC's showing up. Restarted both apps several t...

Re: using ableton in a traditional way
oh you poor little fanboys. Just tell me which commercial Studio would ever use Live for Recording and Mixing? ha? Oh so what? that argument isn't even applicable to your previous statement. there is no difference in sound quality, but MANY other reasons why a commercial studio doesn't use live as ...

Sampling from Vinyl with Live?
I've heard that it's best to to use a 3rd party application to record your samples and then import them into a live set. Is this true, and why or why not? What application would you recommend? Thanks!

Re: For a live setting, merge song projects, or leave separate?
I need to do this too. I am thinking the best way to do this is to export the individual songs as a wav. Then start a new project and a new live set. drag your .wav songs into the clip launch boxes. The project file shouldn't be too big that way. The drawback is you can't fully tweak each song. Tha...
