Re: First gig: basic technical help needed!

Just went back to the music store to test some other interfaces before making the switch from MP3 to WAV.
I also tested another Audio2DJ unit just to be safe... which worked fine !

Turns out I just had a faulty unit...

Thanks for all the help though guys!

Re: First gig: basic technical help needed!

Over at AbletonLiveDJ.com people are suggesting the cause of the issue is me using MP3 files instead of WAV. I did a test-run with WAV's and they were right, no more audio dropouts. However, I can't believe no one has ever tried to use Ableton + this interface + MP3s ... there must be something else...

Re: First gig: basic technical help needed!

1) try the same set without the soundcard - if its better without it send it back 2) contact NI support and ask them for advice on setting up the device 3) have you got a massive liveset? when was the last time it played alright. try to get back to that set. you might have to get rid of stuff in or...

Re: First gig: basic technical help needed!

its a non answer really but - preload them all. change audio buffer settings on the soundcard? Can't preload em all, there's too many. And I noticed that even when I'm playing around, I get the occasional hiccup. It just occurs far more frequently when loading tracks. Already tried changing the aud...

Re: First gig: basic technical help needed!

Alright guys, BIG PROBLEM.

Just did a test-run with the Audio 2 DJ and had this problem:
Nearly every time I dragged in a new track from the browser into session view, the audio hiccuped for a bit.
Not very long, but still, very noticeable.

Any way to solve this?

Re: First gig: basic technical help needed!

Also, I'm going to test my set-up in a few days at the club.
If it turns out everything's sounding fine when testing, will it be safe to assume I won't be needing a ground loop isolator on the actual night?
(Mind you: the set-up won't be changing)

OK. Was slightly worried because all the other ones I found were €50 and up.

Re: First gig: basic technical help needed!

OK, then I'll order one either way.

I found one for less than €10 here:

Anything wrong with that one?

Re: First gig: basic technical help needed!

OK thanks a lot guys. Just went & got myself the NI Audio 2 DJ. I checked the box and it includes 2x 1/4" jack-to-RCA cables, so I'm set. Also asked the shop owner whether he had ground loop isolators, to which he replied: "Do you have a Mac? Then you won't need one." Is that corr...

Definitely not phono !!! phono (and the ground terminal) is for the very low level signals from a record pickup.
I assume the CD ports will already be taken up. Line is then. Right?

Re: First gig: basic technical help needed!

The NI Audio 2 has two stereo 1/4" jack outputs (AKA large headphone style). Depending on how you set up, you'll need either one stereo 1/4" jack plug to twin phono cable (for mixing internally with a single 'master' output) or two of the above (for routing separate decks to their own ded...

Re: First gig: basic technical help needed!

OK, just gave the set-up + usb-hub a thorough test run & everything works fine.

So I'll get the NI Audio 2 DJ interface!

What else do I need then?
- 1x jack-to-RCA cable (or two? still confused by this)
- 1x ground loop isolator (or two ..)

That's it, right?

Re: First gig: basic technical help needed!

Is there a sound guy and mixing desk or going into DJ mixer? Adapter choice depends on that, but worth having every combination for all situations anyway. Have you seen where you'll set up? Gaffer (duct) tape. Strap them cables down. Last thing you want is for things to fall out. Even in you can ho...
