Re: Ableton Video Tutorial - Quickly create custom drum kits

Hi there! Thanks for this great course. I've now watched all the videos and I have to say that although I am already working a lot with loops for years now I could still get a huge load of new ideas out of this pack. Aditionally, the methods you are teaching are very efficient – as a result I am now ...

Re: Ableton Traing Courses - yes or no?

Hi there!

My recommendation for you is here: http://www.quantizecourses.com - it's a U.K. based online music school specialised in Ableton Live and I am really convinced of their concept. It won't cost you a fortune like other online schools however you get dedicated, personal feedback videos. You ...

Re: Ableton Online Training courses

Hi there! I have to agree with sigabort - I'm also convinced from what Quantize Courses has to offer. I've been doing two 8 week courses there and still today I sometimes go back to the personal feedback videos I received and re-watch them. It's incredible how much you learn in a short period of time.

Knead & Sting - Singularity [Jazzy Minimal Tech]

So here it is, the new project from minimal producer Alexander Sting and myself. We basically locked ourselves into the studio for some days without any idea what would come out.

A techy, glitchy, minimal track with some clear jazz influence developped. We were unsure if those drum solo parts would ...

Re: THE NEW BIG USER REQUESTS TOPIC FOR LIVE9!!!!

Better use of system resources!

If Live was 64bit on a Mac and if the biggest known bugs were fixed ("of of memory" issues, software crashes, a clean and always working audio buffer, correct phasing behaviour, beat repeat bugs), I would be willing to pay money even without getting a single new ...

Two Live users collaborate over the web [funky breakbeat]

Hi everyone,

sorry for being a bit spammy today but I'm very excited about this project and I thought it's worth sharing it here.

It was on an Ableton Live community about one year ago where I met Belgium based indie electro producer, live act and guitar player lucky one for the first time. When ...

In-depth explantation of Beat Repeat (video)

Hi everybody,

I just found a cool little video that explains the Ableton Live Beat Repeat really well:

http://www.quantizecourses.com/pages.php/?cat=3

I've always been struggeling with the effect and never really understood each of the parameters – so when I found this video today, I thought I'd ...

Re: Ableton Audio Effects Tutorial Video 1 - Auto Filter

I've been working a lot with the Auto Filter recently but I never used the envelope or the "quantize beat" function so this video was really helpful for me to get a better understanding about not just a few but *all* the different parameters. The best thing is that it shows a cool practical example ...

Re: Extract Groove Clarification:

You'll want to make sure that the transient markers really sit on the transients. Often times, Ableton does not really put the markers to the start of the transient - as a result your extracted groove will sound odd. It can be quite hard to put the transient markers right on complex material but it ...

Re: Leslie Effect

I recently bought speakerphone 2 from audio ease. It's not just a leslie but a really great convolution effect plugin. However, the leslie they include is by far the best I've listened to so far. http://www.audioease.com/Pages/Speakerp ... phone.html

Re: sampling

I'd like to add that you do want a high quality version of the original record in order to sample it. A 44,1khz wav or aiff is way better than an MP3 so it's not advisable to download anything from the web and sample it. If, however, you are going for a particular "old fashioned" effect, you may ...

Re: help choosing a course: Berkley, Sonic Academy, Audiotech...

Hi there!

About a year ago I did some research on this subject as well and although all of those courses you mention are well known, there are other - and maybe better - possibilities for you to consider. As mentioned above, this will hugely depend on the style of music you make.

If you're into ...

Re: How much value is in online tutorials? Which ones?

Hi there!

I was in the same situation some months ago - just had discovered Ableton and fell in love with the idea to make my own music. Yes, there are lots of tutorials on the web and I think it is a great start for anyone to get going in the software.

However, if you are serious about music ...

Re: major lag / latency issue with longer audio file

Okay, it was a stupid error by myself. I had a high quality eq running (vst plugin) and as I wanted the best sound, I turned it to linear phase mode - this introduced the heavy delay and could be easily removed by setting the plugin to its normal mode.
So again, it was the user in front of the ...
