I don't know if latency is different. I didn't test that. But CPU performance is definitely worse. Something we saw earlier with powerbook updates. I believe it was the transaction from 500mhz to 550mhz powerbooks. The release of panther definitely will be good news. I've already tested Live on the ...

Test results: New Alu Powerbook Vs. Old Ti Powerbook

Today I did a Live test between a Powerbook Titanium G4 1Ghz and the new Powerbook Alu G4 1.25ghz. Same amount of memory. Same operating system. OSX 10.2.8 I loaded the demo session. The first scene called "LIVE!" generated 16% cpu on the OLD powerbook and 21% on the new. The scene called ...

We too want to add our thanks to Ableton. Without Live I could've never imagined how to get our music out of the studio onto the stage. With each release it gives us more possibilities and flexibilities. Personally I can't wait until the Version 3 release and the OSX Panther release which will speed...

Thanks for the detailed reply. I'm the one behind the iBook, currently a TiBook. :) I agree that it would be really handy if Live would remember different audio-configurations per session. I'm about to buy a new audio interface which extends my 2 outputs to 8 and I already foresee problems. As I und...

THere is certainly no harm to be done, the worst that might happen is that you have to manually re-assing inputs and outputs when you open the set again with the multi-channel soundcard hooked up. I don't understand. When does that happen? Does that happen randomly? I want to use my internal soundc...

Multi-output question

I was wondering; When you create a session which is using multiple outputs, i.e. when you own a firewire device, what happens when you open the session when the device is not connected to the computer? Are the settings permanently lost like when you forget to connect your midi device? Or are the tra...

Send metronome sound to a separate audio channel.

yup. Thanks for the update.

One question: You say that "Midi clock has been improved". What exactly does that mean? Sync to external or better master clock or something else?

robtronik: I think it works like this: Live just claims (almost) all processing power to assure they get top priority. It's the ugly way to do it. So basically it takes over the system and then handles its own performance meter. By doing this it can be sure no other app or process is able to claim t...

I think this Apple vs PC war will never end. Well at least it won't end as long as there exist apples and pears! hehe :P

I still think that succes lies in means of creativity and not in technology. So basically pc or mac can both work for you. Why not close this long chapter with that?

Actually it got me even more confused. I'm willing to spend $1000 on a multi-out audio device for my TiBook 1Ghz but right now i'm not sure what the best choice is. I have RME in all my desktops. But the RME-PCI "no-sleep" issue (and the reported pops and clicks) on the TiBook scares me. M...
