Re: Export not sounding the same as realtime listening?

I don't understand what you mean, i've already clearly stated the problem: When i listen "live" it sounds ok. Why i export, there's this weird volume boost in the beginning audio. What more testing do i need to do? Something is not right with Live. Or can you give me a scenario where Live is working...

Re: Export not sounding the same as realtime listening?

Guys, i've been a professional audio engineer for 20 years, I know what i'm doing! (although i only use Live occasionally, hence me less then complete knowledge of it)

Anyway, i guess it's a bug, carry on..............

Stop Live from moving playhead when selecting a clip?

Hi folks,

I'm in the arrange window.

When i click on a midi or audio clip, Live automatically moves the play head to the start of that clip.

I'm talking about when playback is stopped.

But i don't want this!

Any way to stop / change this behaviour?

Re: Export not sounding the same as realtime listening?

Yes, but the fact that it doesn't happen when i listen normally, but DOES happen when i export, tells us there IS a difference. Otherwise i wouldn't be on here complaining about it. So like i said, i agree a plugin is probably at fault, but Ableton is also at fault, because it provides one audio exp...

Re: Export not sounding the same as realtime listening?

Thanks all.......... nope, that's not it, i'm playing the file back in a DAW (Samplitude) using proper ASIO drivers. I guess it's a plugin at fault. But i feel Ableton should also take part of the blame. I mean, it should be technically possible to ensure that real-time listen is identical to export...

Re: Export not sounding the same as realtime listening?

Normalization wouldn't do that, it just sets the loudest peak to 0dBFS and doesn't have any impact dynamically!

Export not sounding the same as realtime listening?

Hi folks, I'm mixing a track and am coming up against an annoying issue: When i listen to the song from the start, everything sounds ok. But when i do an export, the first couple of seconds of the vocal (which is the first thing to sound in the song) is about 7dB too loud. Then the volume drops over...

Re: Stop push from following what's happening in the main DAW?

It's probably to do with how the thing is designed. It basically just mirrors the interface, in a translated form. If it could do what we wanted, it would need to have two interfaces running concurrently, which presumably isn't possible. You can do it with a Novation Launchpad for example, but that'...

Exporting an exact region, repeatedly?

Hi folks, Imagine this: I'm using Ableton for mixing (not my own music, i mean as a mix engineer for hire) Once i have my mix done and dusted, i want to export it. But i want to export a very exact range. Say from half a second before the first sound until the last delay at the end has died away. An...

Re: Copy midi clip to arrangement: automation env. doesn't stay in clip?!

Listen you idiot, you can have modulation that isn't automated, for example when you map a knob on your midi controller to knob on a plugin. When you record that movement into your DAW, you're automating the modulation. I don't give a shit what it says in the manual, i know what is commonly meant by...

The "he" was me!

I think we're just getting hung up on words, i'm calling it "modulation automation" but you're just calling it "modulation"!

Re: Copy midi clip to arrangement: automation env. doesn't stay in clip?!

This is by design: in Session, automation is in clips. In arrangement, it's on its own lanes (that you can open many by clicking the + sign). And this has nothing to do with modulation per se. Sure, but in arrangement you can also have modulation automation inside clips (so, not in lanes), right? T...

Re: Copy midi clip to arrangement: automation env. doesn't stay in clip?!

OK, thanks! So am i right in thinking that as long as you set it up right, the end result is identical? I mean using modulation automation instead of normal automation. So as long as you start your automated parameter at it's most extreme setting, then automate (with modulation) from there, the resu...
