Re: Best way to arrange songs when DJ'ing with apc40???
Hi zahnerj, I too am using the APC 40 which is working out a treat for me. Using only 4 of the channels, using the other four as splitters so I don't accidentally activate the wrong clip (in session mode). There is no wrong or right way to DJ with ableton, providing its in session view, and not arra...

Re: Return Tracks...
Return tracks are used for parallel audio processing, e.g. drum plate reverb. We use this style, also known as parallel mixing , so we can adjust how much send we give to each return track. For example, I may want more reverb on the claps, so I raise the amount of send feeding the Drum Reverb Return...

Re: help choosing a course: Berkley, Sonic Academy, Audiotech...
I think your answer also depends on what style of music you are thinking of making. I got some free Sonic Academy videos which were not that bad and did learn some points. I would prefer a course which you could work with peers and professionals in order to perfect your sound. In summary, my experie...

Re: Sam Charles - If It Bleeds, We Can Kill It!
By "beat" i mean maybe add a kick on the off beat to throw something new to that section. - I haven't tried this technique yet but will give it ago, might be worth using on one 8 bar. Bitty percussion sounds great though too. Maybe use a flanged effect on some shakers/claves, but not too ...

Re: Sam Charles - If it bleeds, we can kill it!
Thanks for your response zc. Firstly my main worry was the bass and the whole feel on other systems, translation is what the engineers call it. I haven't tested this track on my shuffle, however your feedback is very comforting. Getting it right on them Ipod headphones can be difficult. The points i...

Re: Sam Charles - If it bleeds, we can kill it!
How's the bass sounding on your system. Little worried I've boosted it too much and not compressed it enough. BTW this project is only 50% the way through and there is nothing on the mastering chain yet
Any feedback would be great, thanks.

Using Ableton to DJ *** New Mix CD *** Free Downloads...
Hi Guys, For many years I pondered about the use of Ableton when DJ'ing . I was at the stage where I wanted to do more then just mix. Luckily things have worked out great for me. Because the quality of my sets are good, I'm getting booked all the time. As such I want to showcase a live mix I did mon...

Re: funk sampled snippet
Have you thought about putting some LFO cut-off on that lead. Its got the punch but you need to just vary the frequencies a little to make it stay interesting. Also think about using more of a swing. I'm new to swing, put I've just made a tech house track, Swing 16-45 seems to be a good shout on eve...
