I see what I did: the Live 9 VST folder should not point to the same one as Live 8.2.2.
I fixed the folder. All is good.
Thanks.

VST plugins not appearing in Live 9 vs. Live 8
Hi everyone, Today, after installing Native Instruments Komplete 10, I upgraded to Live 9 (64-bit on Windows 7). However, when I start Live 9, none of my VST plugins show. They are there when I start Live 8.2.2. I'm using the same directory in both cases: "C:\Program Files (x86)\steinberg\vstpl...

Re: A Revision Control System for Tracking? Does one exist?
Thanks, guys. @doghouse: I know what you mean, but there are a couple of things this doesn't address. What if we're talking about incremental changes to one file? Then we waste an awful lot of hard disk space saving entire projects. If I change one parameter on one VST, I don't want to save the enti...

A Revision Control System for Tracking? Does one exist?
I'm wondering if anyone is using a Revision Control System (e.g. Git) for versioning their projects. RCSs are an integral tool in software development and I, for one, believe that they could be a very useful tool for production. In case you're wondering what these tools do: every time a professional...

Re: kick and bass how to make them sound massive and punch
ok, clear, but again - there must be some basic rules for eqing and compressing. i mean - may be kicks sould have specific frequencies, when checking with analyser , and so do bass... so which frequencies are they? what about 300 HZ on kick drum which is mud and should be cutted? and what bout 2 - ...

Re: kick and bass how to make them sound massive and punch
It would be great if someone would post a Live set with a simple track which demonstrates what he's looking for? That way, we could all have something concrete to study and ask questions about. If I recall correctly, KJ Sawka posted a set not to long ago which might be a good, if not simple, startin...

Anyone using the Boss GT-10 to trigger Ableton's looper?
If so, would you please give some details.
I didn't find anything when I searched, so I thought I'd ask.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

SD2 (Stormdrum2) in Live - where is the SD2 DLL?
This is probably really simple but ... I've installed and authorized SD2 and can use the standalone. But I cannot find the SD2 DLL(s) in order to put it/them into my AbletoneLive VST folder. I can't find any info at the EastWest site nor in the documentation. Am I going about this the wrong way? Any...

Most advanced or dumbest - a pretty stark choice. Perhaps I didn't explain it properly or maybe my terminology is incorrect. Of course it could also be that you've never encountered a piece of music which changes time signatures. The arrangement view allows you to insert time signature changes. Howe...

Good thread. Live's MIDI editor cannot handle tracks in multiple time signatures. That is, if you have a MIDI track with changing time signatures, you cannot edit it easily in the MIDI editor - the MIDI editor does NOT reflect the changing meter. This makes editing really inconvenient and, in some c...

OT - D-to-A Converter: my computer vs. my cd player
I am considering transferring my CD collection to my hard disk. But I'm concerned about sound quality. Right now, there are obvious differences when I listen to a CD on my two systems, due, no doubt in part, to the different components. The stereo system runs on an NAD amp and Sony XA3ES CD player t...

Thanks for the reply. And your suggestion works: I created 3 separate MIDI clips and they show up correctly in the MIDI editor - 4/4 is 4/4 and 6/16 is 6/16 etc. Interesting. However, the time signature of this tune changes EVERY measure. And it's long, 231 measures. FYI: I am adding a drum part to ...

MIDI Files and Time Signature Changes - simple question
I'm not sure if I'm missing something. I create a new set and, in Arrangement view, add some time signature changes. For example: measure 1 is 4/4, measure 2 is 6/16, and measure 3 is 5/8. I click and drag over these 3 bars to select them, then right-click and choose Insert MIDI clip. OK, so now I d...

Time Signature Changes and MIDI files
My project contains many time signature changes. It contains audio and MIDI files. The project is 248 measures. One part, the percussion MIDI part, however, doesn't appear to reflect the time signature changes and shows up, in the MIDI editor, as 101 measures of 2/4 - even though this part starts ri...
