Re: Performing in live question
in the clip inspector you can also set quantization for individual clips. Multiple clips, as well. This way you can have some without quantization and some with.

Re: 5ms out good enuff?
Well I really can't notice any difference between my 1.5ms out on my main beast with firewire or my laptop with fast track pro at 5ms out. Been playing some Bach and Mozart most of the morning putting my fingering to the test while listening both on my monitors and cans alternatively without issue. ...

5ms out good enuff?
U folks think 5ms out is fine for live performances? Its 10ms as a round trip but I don't have anything going in - just out. This is with an m-audio fast track pro on my laptop. My main machine uses m-audio profire 610 with a 3ms round trip firewire. But my laptop doesn't have fw. I tried my friends...

laptop suggestions?
Greetings, friends. I have a question regarding laptop reliability. I'm looking for a new live performance machine and am staying away from Macbooks this time around. I'm looking for reliable hardware. What's everyone's thoughts on Sony Vaio, Dell, HP and Asus? Several friends have Dells, while they...

Multiple USB mic input... any solution?
A friend of mine is working on a podcast and I can't figure out, for the life of me, how to get 2 USB mics working on separate tracks in Ableton or Logic, for that matter. The issue is each program only recognizes a single input device. He has a hardware mic to use with my firewire interface, which ...

Re: DJing with WAV's or MP3's??
Dude, with this answer you just totally negated what you stated as your point "2" which I quoted and argued against. I am all for learning from others, but it is to "learn" why they do it and not simply to copy without knowing why. A statement saying "do it simply be...

Re: DJing with WAV's or MP3's??
Well, if you are using the line "it is correct because x so and so showed me / does it" as your only reply, then it seems like you do not understand the tools yourself very well. And I guess the "basement DJ" comment was an attempt to ruffle our feathers a bit? :D If you are usi...

^^^ only because XYZ uses XYZ it makes it automatically good or acceptable? wow 8O got any own opinion, experience or ears? The idea is to LEARN from others and make your own interpretation. If something WORKS - why not use it? I was under the impression that learning things from others is w...

Re: Live Library on external drive - management.
Coolness. Will it require a complete re-install or do I just move my main Library to the external and just point Ableton in that direction on the next startup?
Thanks for the info.

Re: Making the switch to logic
I use both. Logic is my main launching platform for creation and I Rewire Ableton to Logic - track by track. I can't say which I like better - but all of my bounces come from Logic. They both have pros and cons - so I try to exploit the pros of both DAWs as best I can for each tune I make. On stage ...

Live Library on external drive - management.
I'm getting increasingly bored with copying my Desktop's library to my laptop's library so I can have all of my custom instruments, samples, etc. If I put the library on an external drive - work with it on my desktop - creating instruments, sample banks, etc - can i just plug that HDD into my laptop...

2) Anyone who DJ's without the use of audio-enhancing plugins, proper compression, limiting, etc should be SHOT - however - this goes without saying. http://datan.org/files/possiblyfun2/facepalm.jpg Deadmau5 walked me through is setup a year ago and gave me a bunch of tricks with plugins, etc while...

Re: DJing with WAV's or MP3's??
@Ninja-Matic, Point taken. You obviously have your pulse on the music industry. I'm a luddite and you're the hipster. I guess all the labels that send me uncompressed .wav/ aiff files do it out of sympathy cause they worry I can't adapt. It's cool. Play your "am radio tracks" and just do ...
