I have recorded at least a dozen tv commercial scores using only Ableton Live. Furthermore, half of them were written, mixed, mastered and sent as mp3 to the client directly from a coffee shop with internet connection, I'm not even kidding. At the time, I had 3 roommates and a tiny, stuffy bedroom w...

exactly, i guess 'realtime' is the key here....even reversing a sound is so quick in Live...dunno, I'm loving Logic for a lot of things, such as the sound quality (Ensemble has much to do with that), the bundled synths, samplers and other instruments, but my workflow from 3 years of Live has definit...

Logic 8 elastic audio?
I never would have thought ProTools would win this race, with 7.4 it seems they took they most fun aspect of Live and implemented into PT. Warp markers, stretching to the tempo, changing pitch, etc., all the fun and quick audio mangling Live can do. The irony is I switched to Logic days before this ...

I was never a Logic user, pretty faithful to Live for the past 4 years, but I must admit I'm quite tempted. I also use PT LE, mostly for mixing and other stuff, and waited for the next Logic release to see if all the rumors were true (ie: more intuitive interface, etc.) and for the most part it seem...

Sound on Sound also had something to say about Live's overall sound quality. Add that to the other music magazine articles, online articles, and many Live users (including myself) who brought up the issue long ago. Can all these people be wrong? It is all subjective. Those who noticed usually are on...

noise reduction plugin for Mac?
I checked out Version Tracker for this, hoping I would find a freeware or inexpensive solution, but alas....Sound Soap, cool, but no demo version on the BIAS site, only all their other products, but not Sound Soap, how silly. "Ray Gun", a cheaper alternative, but the URL's are dead links (...

Essential Sounds, any good?
Finally upgrading to LIve 6, I was wondering if the sounds (Essesntial Instruments) included in the boxed version are worth the extra $100? By the size of it, I would guess they are decent, but how do they compare to various modules and other packages we are famiiar with (ie: Reason, etc). I tried s...

My friend has the Edirol, I just bought the Zoom. Twice the size as the R-09? Hardly so, a wee-bit taller perhaps, but the Zoom definitely caters more to the musician/sampler enthusiast. The 4-track function is nice, but what sold me on the Zoom was the 2 extra XLR ins/DI, and the fact that it's als...

fo' real y'all. I went to a friend's house yesterday, to jam, make some noise, etc., and was amazed to see and discover how other people work. He doesn't have much but churned out some amazing beats and bits of music which left me speechless and re-affirmed that the gear/amount of it means nothing. ...
