Why is my mic active no matter what? From the moment I connect it to my audio interface and turn the phantom power on I can hear my voice from the monitors. I appreciate it when electronic musicians play live as a band, I find it innovative.. However I saw Apparat and band a month ago and have to say it wasn't very good. Trentemøller wins.

So what's the best for recording vocals in that range? The sm57 seems to be used mostly for recording instruments. Would the sm58 be suitable for studio use and would I need a pre-amp with my M-Audio Fast Track Pro?
