I have the same problem using midipipe, i solve the VCM removing the icon from the midi device window-restarting my mac-and once i replugged the vestax it was working fine.
The problem is that i cannot do the same on my launchpad and now Ableton doesn't recognise it!!!
Any help will be appreciated ...

Hello guys I recently added the Novation Launchpad to my setup witch includes the Vestax VCM600, the problem is that the vcm has midi channels from 1 to 6 and some of the controls on channel 5 conflict with the novation.

I solve the problem u have on my way...
I got 6 channels with 1 fx rack each...
The firsts 6 bottoms on the effect panel are mapped the control on/off and selecting the respective rack (1th from 6th)
Then once You press a bottom the 8 knobs will be assigned to the respective rack and so on...
